Can you connect a tama V2 and a tama V3?

to connect v2 and v3, on v3, select "others" and on v2 select "v1" then they will connect

I just tried to connect my v2 with my v3 by following this direction, and it did not work. Does that mean that there is something wrong with one or both of my devices, and is there a different way to test them to figure it out?
