When you want to use a code, go to your SHOP but stop at the first screen where you see the shopkeeper. Keep pressing the A (1st button on the left) button really quickly. You will see that after a few times the shopkeepers face will change. He will look surprised and throw his hands in the air. As soon as he does that you can enter your code. Be careful not to keep pressing A when he changes because your tama will assuming that it is part of the code!
