My tamagotchi ver2 had a baby when it was 9 years old but it often has a baby when it's 7.

That is because you took a while to mate with another Tama. Or you missed the matchmaker the previous times :mimitchi:

You might have missed the matchmaker the other times she comes. Normally she comes around when your tama is as young a 5 or 6, to as late as 7 or 8 until she no longer comes after a curtain about of rejections.
