my bets guess is because it changes the image and makes it look fancier.

 
I think it's to symbolise that you can 'connect' with Tama Town through passwords.

wellmits just for decoration as tama05 and to make it look like it actually connects to the internet.

 
There is a lot of other topics like this. Try reading the other ones in the forums, please :( . But to stay on topic, I think it's just a decoration.

My best guess is so you can tell the difference between a V2 and a V3. Also I think it makes V3's look very cool. (No offence V2 owners)

I think it's so you can identify that it's a V3, since, to my memory, the V2 & V1 have different prints on it. :unsure:

It's a decoration, I have seen inside one because I have a translucent tama. It is empty. I think it might symbolize being connected to the internet, that would make sense.

It lets you connect with Tamatown. Tamatown sends it to your tamagotch on what password to expect and what to give if you do it correct. That's my opinion, and I don't care if you think some other way! :unsure:
