Yes, luckily there is! Unscrew the back screw on your tamagotchi and take the old one out. Put in a CR-2032 3V battery. Once the egg appears on the screen, press "B" and select "Download". Your old tamagotchi will come back from the last major event. (Matchmaker, IR Communcation, etc.)
