Adoption centres have been a fad here at TamaTalk that has never really died. In the adoption centre, the thread creater will show you a number of tamas that can be adopted (using the smilies). People then reply and ask to adopt the tamas and either put them in their signature, on their website or just be done with it.
They are not entirely purposeful and there are too many of them around by far...
