Maylee took her flashlight out into the backyard. She shone it, trying to find out who or what was in her yard. "H-h-hello?" she stammered, "Wh-wh-who's there?" There was a meow. Maylee raised her eyebrow, puzzled. A cat? "Here, kitty,kitty,kitty!" she called.
"Here cat!" she called out. She sighed and gave up. She headed into the house. [SIZE=8pt]"Mew!"[/SIZE] cried a small voice. A tiny ginger tabby cat ran out of the bushes. It was a small, male kitten. Maylee was surprised.
The kitten meowed again. It looked dirty and had no collar. Maylee took it inside the house. "Dad!!!!" she called. "I found a cat in the backyard!" Maylee's father was a vet, so he might check if the cat was healthy or had rabies, or if it had an address.
"He seems fine to me, besides the fact that he's really hungry!" said Mr. Higatchi, "I'm pretty sure this little guy is the kitten abandoned in that old alley!" Maylee looked dissapointed. "Who would do something like that?" she said, "Can I keep him, dad?" Mr. Higatchi thought about it, then answered. "I don't see why not!"
"Oh, thank you dad!" Maylee screeched. She picked up her new kitten, whom she had already named Kenichi, and headed into the kitchen to feed him. After she fed Kenichi, the doorbell rang. Maylee answered it and found Kagura standing there. "Oh!" said Maylee, "It's you! I bet you wanna see Miruko, don't you?"
Kagura looked at the floor. "N-no, actually, I wanted to see you!" she said. Maylee looked shocked. Oh no! I bet she hates my guts! She probably came over here to yell at me! "I wanted to talk to you about what happened earlier." Kagura said. Maylee threw her arms around Kagura. "I am so sorry! Koga and I were just talking and then he...leaned in and kissed me!" Maylee cried, "I wanted to stop him, but I just couldn't!"
Kagura hugged Maylee. "I-I know you wouldn't do something like that to me on purpose! But...but why would Koga do this to me?" Kagura said sadly. "I-I don't know!" said Maylee. "He's always trying to get me to like him! I just want Kiro to forgive me!" Kagura smiled at Maylee. "C'mon, let's go visit our boyfriends!" Maylee nodded in agreement and the two of them headed for the door.
"MEW!" Kenichi meowed loudly. "Oh!" Maylee said, looking at Kenichi. "How could I forget you?" She picked up Kenichi and walked over to the door. "You have a cat?" said Kagura, petting Kenichi's tiny head. "I'll tell you along the way!" said Maylee.
