Hi, I'm new to this site so I've been surfing around a lot and I've read many threads about how not to get one. I always get that guy too so I'm going to try these suggestions.
You need to give your Tamagotchi lots and lots of attention. Play games with it frequently and do not feed it snacks. It's worth a try. Whoo hoo!

Here's the deal: there is no DEFININATE way to avoid getting those characters, but you can try the following:
-MUCH ATTENTION! That is probably the MOST important thing. NEVER NEGLECT IT!
-Don't let your tama get TOOOOOOOOOOOOO overweight.
some ppl say not feeding it snacks helps, but I personally find that never feeding it a single snack is truly impossible.

Well in the Odd number generations, The easest to get is Maskitchi
In the even number Generations, the easest to get is Gozatchi.
This is because in the even number generation's, you uselly get (I not quite sure it is a definite) oniontchi and Young mimitchi.
And vice versa for odd number.
