tama plus?

Hello - I purchased a tamagotchi online and it arrived today. Pulled the paper key out and it instantly hatched. Have reset several times and it doesn't behave like the instructions say, i.e. asks for date, time, etc. Instructions are in japanese with an unintelligeable translation to english. basically, I''m not even sure which version this is, because none of the pictures or descriptions of the icons match mine. Hint: lower left icon looks like a cellphone.

I haven't been able to get to any screen to set the date, only the time and alarm time. can't get to a screen to set birthday either. Any hints?

No, I'm not sure about that. the case looks authentic but that's about it.
