Hm, I dont think thats a good thing to do..

The lights shouldnt fade, but I suppose its okay.

Tamagotchi's naturally evolve, to different characters anyway, the Tamagotchi may have just evolved, without your friend knowing.

hmm, yes, it most likely evolved without your friend knowing, and I believe the fading of light won't do anything, infact it might even save battery power, have your friend get it checked out by a tama expert that is good with the inside of tamagotchi's.
