Monica sighed. A mist came out of her mouth. It was freezing.
She looked at her Tamagotchi and smiled. He was her only friend. Batty was her protection, her confidant.She needed him.
Monica was a girl with a plain face and hair that was always tangled. Her big family lived in a small aparment in downtown New York. She was always overlooked because she was the youngest. Her big brothers got the lion's share of the food, so she was always starving. Worse, she had no friends-no human friends. Here she was the outsider, the nobody. The person whom everyone avoided. She sensed that even the teachers didn't like her.
She had just gotten Batty. Ever since Tamagotchis came out so many years before, she had wanted one and had saved up money she found on the street. There were days when she was so discouarged that she wanted to give up. but Batty had made her life a bit better. A bit better.
She was suddenly shocked to hear taunts-directed at someone else! She was a strange little girl with these piercing blue eyes and-Monica gasped,and suddenly her mouth widened in a huge grin- a Tamagotchi hanging 'round her neck!...
