Is this normal?

My male mimitchi started getting visits from the matchmaker three times a day since day 5, and he turned into ojitchi at day 10, which I felt was very young for the transformation. I wanted to mate him with my female mametchi, but that doesn't seem possible now. Yes, I know that if she turns into otokitchi she and he can produce oyajitchi, but I just want good old fashioned tama babies and mametchi is young yet. Can ojitchi mate with mametchi now? What is the average age for tamagotchis turning into oldtimers?
