Try setting the clock to 11:59 PM, and wait 1 minute. That's one minute to midnight, when the parent leaves.
Otherwise, just wait until midnight, and the parent will leave.
But the most important thing you can do is be patient.

You will know for sure when the parent is ready to leave if you see that it has aged by 1 or more. That would mean that it has definately been 24 hours. Hope I helped!
