What happens if you take the battery out?

My Tamagotchi is out of batteries and I don't want to buy another, but I don't want it to make that annoying buzzing sound either. Can I take it out without having to restart the Tamagotchi?

 
after u changed battery, u can download ur old tama and go on

 
Remove the battery.

Then when you are ready to replace it - put in in. An egg will appear on the screen...push B (middle button), the you have a choice between Download or Rest - choose Download if you wish to retain all the info.

 
or theres a way of just downloading it and it wont have the sign but just dont connect other wise download it again
