I went into the shop and bought something that was a packet with some sticks in it and it came up in the snack menu! when i fed it to my tama she got really excited and spun around like a little happy dance! hehe!

 
what you bought were french fries and your tamagotchi spun around because french fries are that characters favorite food every character has a favorite food and you can find every characters favorite food in the tt library reference section
