They would call them "Tamagotch"! (No "I")
But maybe it really was a Fake by how you described it though.
But here is a BIG tip you must know in buying Tamagotchi:
ALL Tamagotchi products will always have the famous BANDAI logo on the front of the package.
Meaning if it doesnt...its fake.
I hope that helps you out in the future on buying Bandai products!

No - don't worry....Is a Tamagotchi a fake if it does'nt say "Connection" under the Tamgotchi logo?
There are real tams with the words "Tamagotchi Connection" and real tams with the words "Tamagotchi" on them
those last ones are ConneXions, sold in Europe - most of mine only have the word "Tamagotchi" on them (I only have one Connection / North American version).

Well I got a tama 4 £6.49 and IT was real.about the start of the year i was at a bootsale and i saw a "tamagotch" i thourght it was a tamagotchI but i was wrong no wonder it was soooo cheap (£5) and it was weird it had a weird logo toom and it had bigger charecters on it and it was a big screeen and kept resseting itself i dont no why??
