Help, my daughters Tamagothchi is not right!

Help me! My daughter was bought a Tamagotchi by a friend for her Birthday on Saturday and we noticed it wasn't the same as the ones her friends have got so we presumed it was a version 1 type. However I have just discovered that it is a Tamogotchi connexion rather than a Tamagotchi connection. I presume this means she will not be able to connect with her friends Tamagotchi's etc. Am I right (In which case I guess she'll at least know what to spend her Birthday money on now). Please help a desperate mother!

If it doesn't have a "version number" in one of the corners on the packaging it is a version 1. I do know for a fact that Version 2 Connection and Connexion can connect... but I'm not certain about the Version 1s. <_<

I was more worried about the name being Tamogotchi rather than Tamagotchi, it makes me think that another company have made it.

If it says Tamogotchi, it is a fake. there are a great deal of fakes out there, and there are some threads with examples in the warnings forum. I am very sorry that your daughter received a fake as a gift. Does the program run at all like other tamagotchis?

I forgot to add that a real tamagotchi connexion will connect to connections. Connection was the name for the American release, connexion was Europe and Kong Kong, and Plus was the name in Japan.

Thanks for all your replies, we've now been out to spend the aforementioned Birthday money and I have a very happy 7 year old. She's just been to Brownies and has successfully connected to one of her friends. All I need to do now is find an idiot guide for me to follow for when I have to look after it/play with it.
