what's the point of debugging?

The point of debugging is so you can choose the character you get, etc. If you are planning on doing this procedure, I suggest you read this guide:http://www.pixelmood...n_debugging.htm. ;) There are some down sides to debugging, so please read everything in the guide.

Debugging is an extra feature that BanDai put in tamagotchis so that you can choose your gender and character. You can also put your pet in hyperspeed so it will grow faster. It is also an oppurtunity to experience characters not available on the regular tamagotchi game.

There are a lot of risks to take when you debug. If it is a V3 you will not be able to have a tamatown account and you won't be able to enter passwords. When you debug your tamagotchi it will automatically reset itself and when you undebug you can't download your previous tamagotchi you had before you debugged. It can also screw up or brake your tamagotchi if you are not careful.

If you want to debug, it's your choice. But just be cautious and careful so that everything works out right.

Well, debugging is the same for all Tamagotchi Connections.

Besides, the link that Tama-Love provided us with shows pictures of a person debugging a V1 connection.
