Wow o_O That's weird. I don't have a v4 though... so I'm still stuck in the land of v3's...

Well, in my opinion, that movie was sorta dumb. BANDAI, come on... they shouldn't call it a "movie" when it was barely 5 minutes long! (It really was barely 2 minutes long!) I was expecting more than that... they should try to make the movies funny. Really funny, not just stupid...

Okay. If your Tamagotchi dies, then you lose your points/items. But if you go on to the 2nd generation, then your Tamagotchi will get to keep the points/items.

It does work! But you don't have to rub it "at least 13 times". You just have to make sure there is some pencil lead inbetween those little semi circles. The reason it works is because the semi circles are a open circuit. When the pencil lead is connecting them, it is then a closed circuit...

i've debugged all of mine, and left the battery out. it still works. there's not a reason it would not work. the reason debugging works is because the lead from the pencil connects the two semi circles and then it activates a whole new side to your tama.

when you debug i know a way you can pick genders (i tried this on my v1, but i'm sure it's true for v2 and v3) normally you get a boy, but if you hold down all 3 buttons and then push reset, you'll get a girl. you always will get a boy if you don't do that. (again, i only know this on V1!)

yeah, you really gotta be careful with these litte things... they have so many parts! i have taken them completly apart, and there are so many things you can break on them.
