V3! :) Just the right balance of simplicity and complexity for me. Not to mention I love a lot of the characters.

My first was a V1! <3 I got it because I saw the commercials for it. I only knew one other kid that had a Tama at the time, so we'd connect all the time. To this day I don't really understand why it suddenly exploded into popularity with the V2s when almost no one had a V1.

You'll like the V2 if you like the V3. The main difference between the two is that the V3 has passwords for TamaTown and they have a different set of characters. A lot of the characters on it are quite cute. ;) Agreeing that it's not worth $100 for a new one, though.

I'm in high school and the school has a strict no electronics policy, so I'm not able to use them as easily as I could when I was in elementary or middle school. =/ Might try to sometime to just sneak them quickly between classes and use them at lunch...

I have a Mametchi one and I use it constantly. A Christmas Tree Shop was selling them for just one dollar. I should've gotten more of them. xD

V1. My first was either Maskitchi or Gozurutchi. The one I definitely remember the most from my V1 was my Tarakotchi, though. <3

I would love to play a Tamagotchi RPG! <3 Shame that if said game was released in Japan, with most major retailers in anywhere not-Japan starting to stop carrying the Tamagotchi themselves, it's a shame it most likely wouldn't be released in English. :c
