I think you would all be very surprised at how little it costs to mass produce these toys. There is very little R and D and for the most part very little change from one model to the next (technology wise) they are using very old and very cheap tech. I am going to research this for a bit now.
I have 2 original Furby's from the shopping channel. An all black one and a black one with a white chest/belly. They are packed away somewhere and one of my only memories of him is from about 13 years ago......
It was hillarious. The batteries had died in it so I stashed it in my closet...
