No problem. Just make sure that you don't give them time outs for no reason, otherwise they'll get resentful, and training wont go up.

I have the same problem...

If they get mad (turn their backs on you and steam) or ask for attention even if their happiness and hunger is full, you give them a time out. After a while of doing this their training will increase.

To put in the codes, you go to the shop[ and when it's at the screen with the shop person, you press (a) once, and then keep pressing (a) three or four times repeatedly, and then the shopkeeper will make a ;00 face. then you type in the code, and you get your item. As for why you dont get...
