Ahhh, I remember the tamachat- that chatroom was so fun back in the day! And hey, it's not all that cringe, much like Nazotchi, it's short, simple, and on theme! And there are far worse things you could have call yourself online than Purple. I got chatting with my childhood bestie yesterday and told her about getting back into this account and she told me about how her boyfriend was curious about her old deviantart account back from her childhood sonic the hedgehog roleplaying days. She said they had a lot of really good laughs revisiting that! 😂 And thanks everyone, this has been a rollercoaster of emotions but in the best way, it's gone from a kaleidoscope of cringe and delight to just pure delight!

Hello TamaTalkers! Welcome to the Vintage Vpet Hatch! I think it’s time we all take a break from everything we are doing and spend some time with our Tamas! This group hatch is focusing on vintage virtual pets. That includes Tamagotchi, Digimon, Giga pets or any other virtual pet you would like to run. The hatch will run for one generation only and it will start on the 10th of May The rules are simple and easy: 1- Only vintage virtual pets are allowed for the hatch. 2- You can run one or more devices at a time, it’s up to you. 3- Please make sure you keep updating, not necessarily every day but that would be great if you do. 4- Post a picture if it’s possible. 5- You must start the hatch with a new generation. Please register below if you are interested. See you guys on the 10th of May!

oh yeah same here, i still remember talking w you and tamacass in the last post wins thread and tamachat, back when that existed LMAO it was some fun times. even as the years go by, i still like the community in this forum and try to visit it often LMAO i feel that too, i made my account when i was still in middle school and my username is kinda cringe, though honestly bc of it, i went by purple for about 7 or 8 years online. i still feel kind of emotionally attached to this account in a way, it was one of the first ever social media accounts i ever made haha

No worries, I've moved it to the right place. As for this particular phenomenon, as @tamastar133 notes, there's supposed to be an equal chance of getting each gender - so, of course, mathematics being what it is, sometimes you might find that you get a lot of one or the other in a row. It'll change eventually!

I'm probably one of the only people here who views this as a major plus. (I never liked the feature because it effectively removed the concept of a lifecycle from the originator of the virtual pets category.)

I'm more interested in the Tama Social part, wondering how that will work. Woah a (Main) Tamagotchi with no marriage? It's been a while since that, pre connection model, correct? So far it does seem rather neat ^^

I was able to look into @tamapalace blog and they did a Q&A with Bandai regarding Tamagotchi Pix: Q: Does the Tamagotchi Pix feature genetics that are introduced on the Tamagotchi M!X, and featured on the Tamagotchi Meets/On/Some? A: The core play pattern of Tamagotchi is about nurturing your Tamagotchi character from egg to adult. When we introduce a new product, we try to introduce new and fun ways to do this. The nurturing feature for the Tamagotchi On was about raising your character and building your family tree with babies having genes from their parents. Meanwhile, the nurturing feature of the play pattern of Tamagotchi Pix is focusing on interacting with your characters and you do this with the touch buttons and built-in camera. Q: Can the Tamagotchi Pix connect to the Tamagotchi Meets/On application? A: No, you can’t. The connection technologies are different. Q: Does the Tamagotchi Pix feature Bluetooth connectivity? A: Tamagotchi On had Bluetooth to connect to the Tamagotchi On application, the Tamagotchi Pix does not have Bluetooth technology. Q: Can you confirm the 24 raise-able characters and 17 games? Can you provide a full character list? Are these games mixed between mini games and professions? A: Yes, there are 24 adult characters you can raise the Tamagotchi characters into, and our website features 4 of the 24 characters at this time. What fun would it be to introduce all of them at once? Regarding the games, there are 17 games during your play. There are two games to keep your Tamagotchi happy (Hula Hoop & Matching). There are 6 games in the arcade - though only 2 at a time. The other 9 games are there to help train your Tamagotchi character. Q: Can you provide a list of the professions/jobs on the Tamagotchi Pix? A: Not at this time. Q: Can a Tamagotchi character get any profession/job or can only certain characters get select jobs? A: It’s all about training them, so some characters will go back to Tamagotchi Planet without a profession. I know my character was having more fun in other areas of the device then being trained for their profession. Q: Is there a reason for the delay in the “Blue Ocean” and “Green Nature” shells? Also, is there any timeline on these for pre-orders and/or launch? A: Based on our research and previous learnings, we decided to hold off. We’ll let all the fans know when pre-ordering begins. Q: Will the Tamagotchi Pix be sold alongside the Tamagotchi On? Will this merely be added to the existing Tamagotchi lineup, or is it replacing the Tamagotchi On? A: In today’s environment, does a product really ever go away? Our marketing focus will be moved from the Tamagotchi On to the Tamagotchi Pix, though the application and website will continue to be available! Q: Are there any plans to release the Tamagotchi Pix in Japan? A: Since I focus on North America, I cannot speak to Japan’s plans. Q: Will the Tamagotchi Pix be released in any other country other than the ones listed on the official Tamagotchi website? A: The Tamagotchi Pix will be available in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Germany, and Portugal. There may be other territories as well, though my focus is on the North American market. Q: Does the Tamagotchi Pix support twins? A: It does not. Q: Does the Tamagotchi Pix support marriage? A: No, it does not. The play feature isn’t about raising and marrying your Tamagotchi character, its about raising and interacting with your character and training it so it goes back to Tamagotchi Planet with new skills and so that a new egg can be sent to you! Q: Can you transfer pictures from your Tamagotchi Pix to your computer or another storage device (via Bluetooth or USB connectivity)? A: No, due to childhood privacy, we wanted to keep the images on the device. Q: Can you confirm how many locations/lands will be featured on the Tamagotchi Pix? A: You don’t visit different locations/lands on the Tamagotchi Pix. You can go into town for shopping, eating at the restaurant, playing at the arcade, and visiting the photo studio. Though with the Tamagotchi Pix your character can now explore into the world and find 100 friends! Q: Can you name your Tamagotchi on the Tamagotchi Pix? A: No you cannot since you are raising a pure Tamagotchi that already has a name! Q: Can you provide more information about the built-in camera? A: The built-in camera will be used to take pictures, explore the real world, cook, and even customize items for your Tamagotchi. It is not possible to film video on the Tamagotchi Pix. You can personalize your photos with stickers, and can even get a picture with you and your Tamagotchi character together! Lastly, the built-in camera will be used to scan Tama-Codes for connecting, and even scheduling playdates! Blog can be found here

This was a good watch! It's a bit maddening that Bandai's staff are still mispronouncing their own product's name ("gotch" rhymes with "watch", guys - you should know this, as the Japanese spelling is its own pronunciation guide!), but at least the interviewer got it right at the start of the interview! Anyway, back when we saw the retail leaks I wasn't sold on the Tamagotchi Pix at all, and I saw a lot of potential for safety blunders due to the camera and the early information about online interactions (I'm VERY happy to see that Bandai was focussed on safety throughout the product's development - a lot of toy companies unfortunately treat that as an afterthought and release internet-connected toys with major security-holes), but I've got to admit that now that we've seen the official reveal and the close-up footage and gameplay from this interview, I'm a lot more interested. I'm also happy to see that they're not farming out features to an ephemeral app this time. I didn't think that the final reveal would change my mind, but I'm just waiting for UK pre-orders to open, now! Hopefully they'll actually happen, unlike with the On, which we just never got.

idk if this has been posted yet but this has some actual gameplay footage of the tama. honestly I'm super hyped for it now after seeing it in action, the animation is so smooth!! and it seems like there's a BIG focus on interacting with your tama, from being able to apparently cook food for them and also bathe and pet them with the touch buttons... I think that's adorable and really wish I could buy one

My holy grail is a blue Yasashii. There was one on ebay very recently. Its starting bid was 500, with no buy it now option. Sigh. I did get a former grail in 2004 though--a green Santaclautch at one of the weirdest places----a Goodwill in Phoenix, AZ. I paid 25 dollars for it, brand new in box, and still tabbed. I start it up every year on my birthday (Dec. 11), and run it for the 2 weeks up till Christmas. On Boxing Day I end the game, remove the batteries, rebox it, and put it back in the safe.

I'm very happy with my tama family right now, so I feel a bit guilty to admit a secret wishlist. That said, I definitely wouldn't mind having any one of these... 1. P's (Melody Land & Dream Coffret) 2. An English iD L 3. Black Devilgotchi 4. An Ocean 5. All three 10th anniv. Uratama

Thankyou! It just took some patience - I was able to get a loose one with some very minor scuffs to the case and a battery problem that was an easy fix (the contacts were bent down and the unit wouldn't work correctly as a result - it was a two-minute fix to bend them back upwards), and I got it for no more than any other vintage-era Tamagotchi typically goes for. (I don't care whether these things are mint-in-box or not - I use them, so I'll always lean towards loose units first.) If you're willing to wait around for one with minor issues, you'll be able to get a good deal. There are certainly plenty of them, at any rate, so don't fall for any claims that they're rare - as well as its original late-1990s run, it got a re-release in the early 2000s as well, and they're on eBay and the like all the time.

I'd love to get a Tamagotchi V5.5, as low-key as it sounds! It's the one I need in order to complete my collection of the western Tamagotchi Connection models. They're so expensive to find, but I'm holding out for the day someone eventually puts up an affordable listing. Here's to everyone finding their own holy grails!

Calling Bandai wouldn’t help, it would just escalate the situation further. The Devilgotchis were produced back in Japan 1997, and were recalled because of faulty screws. Unlike the Angelgotchi, (which is much more common to pick up, why I own one!) this is why they are so rare, because of there limited time on shelves. Since being recalled, Bandai discontinued the line and therefor, wouldn’t be able to give any advice to this day. Now I have seen this a couple of times in advance, even on TamaTalk. There was a form with a Tamagotchi’s damage here, and there may be some comments to help. I have to point out this V2’s LCD leakage is way worse, there being a massive black rip in the screen. Consider yourself lucky with this one! Another mention, there was a YouTube video with a girl asking about her Gudetama Tamagotchi (which I’ll put here for you to check out) and there still being more leakage. We can take this into account because it seems that this problem has passed down through all of the non-coloured Tamas, reaching up to today. I’m assuming something must have been on top of the girls Tamagotchi, as she says “It was in my bag, I took it out and found it like this” so something heavy (like a mobile phone, purse, etc.) was forcing itself on top. Anyways, I hope your Tamagotchi can be revived, I’d love to see it!

If this was advertised as being genuine and you used PayPal, then you may still have some chance of being refunded. Just a bit of advice, though: There is nothing genuine on Wish. Good for generic items though Wish may be, anything that you might find there that purports to be genuine, officially-licensed, and so on, simply isn't and never will be - it's a major hotspot for counterfeit goods. In this case, my understanding is that the branding on the packaging, "Q-Pet", has previously been used on some China-only virtual pets, which suggests that these Tamagotchi Plus Colour lookalikes may be from the same company.

I group hatch is when everyone starts up a Tamagotchi on the predetermined date (in this case, April 13th) and we all record our experiences with them. You could completely restart a tama or you can hold off on starting your next gen until the day comes. It's a fun way for the TT community to get together and bond over raising our tamas!

Actually, no. Due to China's approach to copyright laws, Bandai unfortunately really can't do a lot about it. As Nazotchi25 says, it's down to the enthusiast community to provide information on what these things really are, and how to avoid them. Then all we can do is hope that people who are on the fence will find the information before being caught out by the counterfeits. Without the blinders of having encountered a fake Tamagotchi, I've actually reviewed and even briefly logged a generic virtual pet that uses the same software that the fake Tamagotchi Connection units use, and I documented it in detail in the hope that others would find the information and realise what the counterfeit Tamagotchis actually are. I did this because most people simply dismiss them as bad without providing details about them that people who've ended up with one would be able to find online. I think that it's pretty fair to call the counterfeits less of a virtual pet simulation, and more a simulation of a virtual pet! I'd recommend the non-counterfeit generic virtual pets to an enthusiast who wants to mess with something weird (and super-cheap) for a change, but to anyone else I highly recommend avoiding them, as they're really not good virtual pets. EDIT: And I think that it's worth adding that, to make things worse, these virtual pets actually do include copied Tamagotchi characters as an option! They're not animated, they don't evolve, and they just slide around the screen the same as any of the other options do, but they're certainly there.

As I said in my previous post... I thought that we Europeans did it with the day first and the month second, not the month first and the day second. All the Tamagotchis I've bought here in England have been day first and month second. I've ordered Tamagotchis from America, and they've been the month first and the day second? Which is the norm for them, I thought. x] So if you're saying that it's European because the time is the month first and the day second, I'm not completely sure on that because of my above point. Anyway, I guess it's not really important because either way you'd set the date right, I'm just saying. :] ~ Bethiee. :]

So, for years now, my Tamagotchi Connection V4 doesn't really ever turn on.. Once I put in the battery, the egg appears on the screen and it works normally for about 10-15 seconds or so.. it then shows one or two horizontal lines on the screen and it shuts off. If I press the reset button, it will show the egg all over again, but it's a matter of time for the same thing to happen.. I believe it's not a battery problem, because it turns on with the reset button without moving or changing the battery (also, the same battery works on my V4.5 just fine). Lastly, I recently opened it up and cleaned everything inside, even the buttons, but it still won't work. Please, anyone who may know something or having experience on that matter, let me know on what to do! I feel very nostalgic lately, and I really want to bring my "dead" Tamagotchis back to life, starting from this one. Thank you all in advance!
