    Hi everybody! So I've finally decided that this should be its own separate thread instead of it being intertwined with my log. The story is this: I used to have a P2 as a kid and I lost it, and I was really fascinated by Tamagotchis when that happened. It's now 20 years later and now I've become good enough at programming to actually program my own Tamagotchi app so I decided to try and do so. Plot twist: Upon finding Tamatalk and the Tamagotchi fandom.com pages, I started becoming interested in all the other vintage releases and the Connection series too, which I've never owned. (I still don't like the color Tamagotchis too much since I find the characters a little too cutsy and I feel like they all look alike. I think they're definitely aimed towards more of a female audience with less of emphasis on trying to provide "universal" characters. But that's not the point of this post.) This made me want to try to start my very own implementation, first of the P2, then of all of the other vintage releases, at least up to the V4. Now I know myself enough to know that the probability of me actually delivering on that promise is about the same as that of frogs raining on Jupiter, but I'm still going to give it a try! Here's how I've decided to go about it: *First, I'm going to finish my Matlab implementation of the P2 that's based on the Matlab command line (so pretty much useless for anyone except me (and other Matlab users of course)). I'm starting with Matlab only because it is by far the language I'm the most comfortable with. *Then, I'm going to program a Graphical User Interface for it and try to make it as a standalone program. By that point other users might be able to use it if they agree to install Matlab's MCR (which is freely downloadble). *After that I'll just go Mothra, Angel, Genjintch, and so on up to the V4. There might be some releases I might ignore, such as the TamaOtch, which I really don't find interesting. The only reason I think I might be able to do this is that I think once the P2 will be complete, then implementing the others shouldn't be too much of a hassle. It should only involve drawing new sprites and changing just a few basic things (I might be completely wrong about this - and I think I am). In the meantime, I'm also going to try to implement it on Android using a nice little app I found called APK builder. Basically it allows the user to program android apps directly from an android phone, without any need for Android Studio. I use it all the time when I'm commuting or just outside. It's pretty neat. Only weird thing is that it's not on PlayStore anymore and you can't even find it on other sites. And finally, I also thought of actually purchasing an Arduino card and a small screen and actually building myself an actual Tamagotchi. I'll be showing you all the process if I do so of course. From this point on, all the following posts are going to just be updates on the project, so stay tuned. I'll be doing this on my free time so expect hiatuses (?), disappearances, posts where there has only been very small improvements etc. Feel free to ask any questions about my implementation, in fact I'll be glad to share the code with anyone interested.

    Has anyone ever made their own custom shells? How did they turn out? I drew up these designs for shells I'd like to make one day! Im actually currently working on making the middle one right now, but its nowhere near done yet! :3

    Yeah, so, this is a new trademark that's just emerged: https://euipo.europa.eu/eSearch/#details/designs/008272074-0001 I want to begin by making it quite clear that this has not been confirmed for a European market. The website that listed it is a European Union property office, but this does not indicate that the device will be releasing in Europe. In fact, some digging reveals that they've also listed several other versions that were all for the Japanese market. As such, I don't believe this will be an international release just yet. It's also been noted that Italian is listed as a language in the trademark - this is also true for the Japanese versions; it's only indicative of the fact that the trademark representative (Studio Torta) is an Italian company. I did some investigation into this to see what I could find and I ended up finding some interesting things, including more Tamagotchi trademarks from the same source. Firstly, I noticed that although this trademark only recently emerged, the trademark was first claimed in late August. This is also unique in the sense that it's the only one of these trademarks that lists the design trademark being trademarked before the device's release. The others all claimed the trademark before release but filed the design afterwards. We'll come back to this in a bit. Taking these dates into account, and considering that the new release was first filed several months ago, I'm predicting an announcement in the next few weeks - either later this month or early-mid January. Then we're probably set for a March release date, which coincides with the 17th anniversary of the Connection. So I guess I'll call it now and say I think it'll release March 20th 2021. It's been nearly four months since the new version first had its trademark claimed, so about 3-4 months until release makes sense, but I'll note that this is much more in line with the Tama-Go than with any of the Japanese versions. Maybe a hint at an international release after all? But we'll see. Either way it looks like it's still around a month before an announcement and probably three months before release.

    And here's today's update: As you can see, I've added the icons, but only the food and game icon work so far. Also, shirobabytchi actually walks left and right on the screen, rising up and ducking down as the original does. I'm not sure if there's a pattern to its movements, I just made it go randomly from left to right, which admittedly gives weird results when it reaches the screen's limits. I've also added many sounds and made the existing ones more faithful to the original. I think I did a pretty good job on the happy sound effect, it's so satisfying to hear it (for me at least). I'm progressively getting rid of the text-based aspect. Now I'm mostly using just 3 keys. Since it's a command line program you have to input a button and hit enter each time, but this will stop being a problem as soon as I implement this as a Graphical Interface. I mostly did this to be completely done with the Food menu. As you can see, it's 100% complete and operational. Well, I didn't show it saying "no" when you feed it 5 times, but you know from previous entries that it does. Also, this brings this project one step closer to being a GUI, so that's cool. You might have noticed a glitch when I try to enter the food menu. I don't know why it does that and don't think it's necessary to correct this behavior at this point. In the end, I'm pretty sure it's either something very easy to correct, or it has to do with how I'm handling time, which is bound to change. Even though I said I planned to first completely finish the project and then make it into a GUI, it doesn't have to wait until that point honestly. In fact, I really want to start he GUI right now while the code is still relatively manageable because this will make it feel more like an actual program (and tamagotchi). Besides, I'm getting tired of having to hit enter every time I push a button. Doing this is really showing me how complex Tamagotchis are, even the very first P1 version! I mean, here I am with Matlab, in 2020, trying to rebuild a toy that used LR batteries and a 4-bit processor! I always thought building a Tamagotchi was a pretty straightforward task, and to some extent I still think it is, but for 1996 and very limited hardware, it's incredibly complex and really deserving of all the praise and success it got! (By the way, I like how even my incomplete, basic tamagotchi rip-off is still better than the Bunny-ROM!) Good day or night!

    I actually thought this was a very good idea- the trick doesn't harm other devices and both parties are happy! The other person got the genes they wanted and the person who didn't go through with the connection can keep searching for the genes they want while making other people happy. I don't really see any reason to stop this? Unless of course they're a mymeets user, but majority of them have been kicked off the app and you can check for corrupted data by looking through the family trees (eg tamas without eyes, black blobs etc)

    For a few months now I've been working on projects outside of Tamagotchi and so I haven't really been thinking about Tamagotchi a great deal. One thing that always pulls me back, though? Tamatown. Cracking passwords was so 2019. Let's take a look at what made Tamatown what it was, and where it is today. For the purposes of this post I'll mainly be covering the V3/4 Tamatowns since that's where most is lost, but I will be covering other Tamatown variants in upcoming posts. I'm sure I don't really need to introduce Tamatown to many of the users here, but perhaps it would be worth some context regardless. What was Tamatown? Tamatown was an online Flash game first launched in 2006 alongside the Tamagotchi Connection V3. Future Tamagotchi versions would also get their own respective "Tamatowns", with the V4 version being an updated variant of the V3 Tamatown, the V5 Tamatown being an entirely different game called the "Tama and Earth Expo" and the Music Star Tamatown being a mass-multiplayer online game called Music City. Music City later got renamed to "Tamatown" once again upon the release of the Tamatown Tama-Go. The Japanese versions also received their own versions of Tamatown. The Entama, released in 2005, had a game similar to Tamatown V3 often called e-Tamago. The Uratama had a variant of this website called "Uratamatown", and the Tamasuku had its own online world, too. Many of the games on the international sites were translations of games from the Japanese site. What happened to Tamatown? Beginning in 2012, the Tamatown servers started to faulter and die. People found that the website had been down for months with apparently no recovery in sight. This was confirmed to be the case in February 2013 when it was officially confirmed that all versions of Tamatown would be going down for good. The only remnant of Tamatown that was left was a game on new.tamatown.com replacing Music City - a language selection screen. Selecting English or Spanish would take you to the shutdown page, while clicking Portuguese would... uh, take you to a Portuguese translation of one of the games. I don't know why. I'm assuming the Tama-Go still had a market presence in Brazil or something. The V3 and V4 Tamatowns actually stayed up for quite a bit longer in Europe. They would eventually shut down on the European website some time in June - July 2013. That extra time allowed some of the files to be archived... but not many. Where was Tamatown? This might seem like a silly question. Clearly, Tamatown was found on tamatown.com, right? Curiously, there were actually multiple different domains that Tamatown occupied, and all of them have to be checked in order to comprehensively search for the files. European regions used www.tamagotchieurope.com, but the truth is that there was actually a second address - www.tamagotchi.eu. If you go to that address now - as of writing this post - you still get the thank you message that was left behind when the site shut down. The US is a slightly more complicated case: The site originally started at both www.tamatown.com and www.tamagotchitown.com When the V4 came along the two Tamatown versions were split off into v3.tamatown.com and v4.tamatown.com The V6/7 Tamatown used the amusing address new.tamatown.com After it shutdown, what was left was moved to bandai.com/tamagotchi/new Being an international version, the V5 Tamatown was stored at a different address, too. What remains of Tamatown? Sadly, not a lot. I do know for a fact that the Tamatown theme uses an identical file across both versions of the site so I'm assuming the rest of the audio files do too. These files were recovered across several different variants of the site so it's a bit patchwork in places. If one were to reconstruct Tamatown as several have done in the past, they'd find that one minute everything is in English and the next minute they're in a German shopping mall. And entering the clothes shop is strictly forbidden.A few of these files are It should be noted that the Japanese sites, including the V5 website, are significantly better archived to the extent that they can be almost entirely recovered. Some of the games are close matches for the English games, too. What is lost? A lot. A lot. So much. This may not even be all the lost files. I've only listed files that were known to exist here. There is almost certainly more. The ones marked in purple are files that I'm not even sure existed in the first place since there's far too little that is still known. On top of these there's a tonne of lost character swfs that would've been used to display different characters. I won't list them here because there's hundreds of them spanning across each Tamatown version. There's also a countless number of versions for each swf file - updates, alternate language versions, low bandwidth versions and the like. What about those Tamatown revivals? Some confusion I've seen with regard to Tamatown is the extent to which they can be "revived". Certainly, there's been attempts at reviving the site in the past, and some of them were pretty good - what people often misunderstand, though, is that none of these revivals were able to recover anything that was already lost. Tama-Palace in particular wrote several articles hyping up loociano's revival as though it'd only be a matter of weeks before Tamatown was completely up any running again, but the fact of the matter was that the only files he was hosting were ones that had already been archived. There has been some luck in replacing the lost games with ones from the Japanese sites but... they're not exactly the same? There's missing music, missing functionality and a number of locations were never on the Japanese sites. Essentially, attempting to truly revive Tamatown would mean finding a way to recover the lost files. Where do we go from here? I think there's three main approaches that we can take to archiving the history of Tamatown, and none of them are going to be particularly easy. Web archives All the Tamatown files from the domains I mentioned above have been covered, and as far as I know, there aren't any more. If other archiving sites were around back then and they've made their own archives, then we may get lucky, but as far as I can tell the only archives that exist are the ones we're aware of. Essentially, I wouldn't waste time looking for more archived files online. They just aren't out there. Saved files One obvious way to approach the matter is just to find people that actually saved some of the Tamatown files. Problem is, not only are these people already few and far between, but they would've saved them on computers they owned around a decade ago if not longer - computers that may not even exist anymore, let alone work - and these people are most likely not into Tamagotchi anymore, and certainly aren't lurking on a forum site they might have considered frequenting 14 years ago. What is known, though, is that there are people who downloaded some of the files. While I'm not so sure how many people would've downloaded the swf files, there certainly was discussion about some of the character swfs from later Tamatown variants and also how to download the music from the site. It is entirely possible that a good number of people would have done that back in the day, so if anyone reading this post just happened to have downloaded any of the music files from that era (or, indeed, the swfs) then perhaps you might want to seek out those files. Cached files A last ditch effort which I've heard might be effective is looking in old PC cache data to find the missing files. Some versions of Internet Explorer had a habit of not clearing their "Temporary Internet Files" folder so it would get crammed full of junk from tonnes of websites. Allegedly swf and mp3 files were amongst those that would've been cached. Making life a little bit harder, these files wouldn't have been named correctly (and likely had seemingly random filenames) and may have even had their file extensions totally removed, too. I wasn't aware of this when I looked through an old PC for these files before, so I may just have to look again. In essence? One potential solution would be to dig out an old PC that used Internet Explorer to access the website a number of times, find the Temporary Internet Files folder (I may provide a better tutorial of how to do this in the future because I recall guides online not being all that helpful, you may have to go to the folder directly instead of by moving through different folders. I think there may be multiple folders with this name, too.), copy its content elsewhere and try changing the extensions of extensionless files to mp3 or swf to see how programs that can run these file formats interact with them and determining if any are the lost Tamatown files. What exactly is my point in posting this? I don't know, something between heightening awareness and calling to action, I suppose. I truly believe it's possible to recover at least some of the lost files, so I think broadening the range of people that know how to help can only be a positive thing. I'll continue to post updates and findings as they come and - in the event I do find anything - I will of course be archiving the materials and putting it all here. If anyone would like to help in this endeavour - even if it ends up being fruitless - sharing it with other people that used Tamatown during its height would be extremely helpful. And if you're a bit techy and still own any of those old PCs you once played Tamatown on, then hopefully I've given you something to do whilst bored in lockdown

    Hello! I’ve been playing tamagotchis and reading logs for about 20 years now. I’m so old! For the past 10 years or so I’ve been too busy to actively participate in the community, but I’d like to give it a shot again. I usually integrate Tamas into my everyday life and the events tend to overlap, so I’ll probably be mentioning a lot of everyday life stuff they experience with me as opposed to just stats and characters. I’m gonna start with the small goal of updating once a week, since I tend to work almost 60 hours a week. okay okay! Where to begin? I finally had a fairly relaxing weekend, and for some reason started running 4 Tamagotchi. 2 V2, my Devilgotchi, and my ON Wondergarden! I’ve never managed to get my Devilgotchi to adulthood, so they’ll be my main focus. I want little devil mametchi this year. I already hatched them once a few days ago, but they didn’t manage to make it past 24 hours. I’m the worst! it’s hard when you have to keep the DP so high! As for the other 3, they’re all your first generation basics! A ringotchi teen, a hitodetchi toddler, and a clubutchi on my ON. We were supposed to get coffee with a friend today, but I really wanted an entire day to myself. We got some work done for clients this week, and I managed to get about an hour or so of studying perspective drawing. We even answered a few emails! I am getting a little lonely as the evening is wearing on though. I should shower and watch spooky movies for the rest of the night! `

    Tamagotchi Boom: Rise of Lyrictchi They’re aliens. New characters should be less humanoid, not more humanoid. It’s been too long since they’ve introduced a proper non-humanoid adult like Zuccitchi.

    Back in the 1990s, I collected LCD game-watches and character-themed digital watches, and I always dreamed of buying a watch-format Tamagotchi to go with them. Though other competing brands offered watch virtual pets, Bandai did not - they only licensed out the Tamagotchi livery for use on themed versions of standard analogue and digital watches. So, 23 years later, I've decided to make my own; Presenting the "Tamawatchi"! Though the name "Tamawatchi" was officially used for a line of Tamagotchi-themed non-virtual pet watches in, I believe, the Connection era, back in 1997 I always imagined it as the name that they would use for a watch version of the iconic virtual pet. Since this was based on an imagined product from my childhood, I specifically wanted a very 1990s look for this project, so that it would fit in with the watches that I have from that era. So, I purchased the newly-released bright-green Neon Tamagotchi Original Gen 1 and a dark-green fabric watch-strap on Amazon UK, since the two combined gave me exactly the look that I wanted. As with my "Tamagotchi Pinny" custom project, I attached brooch-bars to the back of the device using Gorilla Super Glue. Since I've got past experience now, the back of this one looks a lot tidier - not that it matters too much, since it won't be seen when it's in use. I used three brooch-bars so as to evenly distribute the weight of the device when it's attached to its strap (two are on the battery-door, and one is at the top of the device itself), although unlike the Tamagotchi Pinny, the Tamawatchi is a bit too heavy to wear as a pin. Also, unfortunately, for this project, I had to remove the iconic ball-chain, because on a watch it would just get in the way! There are better ways of making a Tamagotchi into a watch, but since I handle my things carefully, this quick-and-easy method will hold up just fine for my use-case. Here's the Tamawatchi with a 1990s Tamagotchi Fantasy Dome bubble-watch. The Tamawatchi doesn't look especially out-of-place, which I'm happy about. If Bandai ever makes an official watch-format Tamagotchi, I'll be right there pre-ordering one at the earliest opportunity, but for now, at least I finally have some semblance of the "Tamawatchi" that I always wanted to own.

    Welp, I just figured out I made a mistake! Tarakotchi is the average care character, not the worst! I fixed that in this one! Sorry!!

    I’ve compiled a work-in-progress list of changes made between the ON and the Meets tamas. Contributions from ON owners are appreciated, and the list will update. The list will only include major/semi-major changes made, including character/land names and functionality changes. Here’s what I have so far... - English language (most obvious change) -Screw instead of push-button (again, obvious change) -No M!x connection -Livings being renamed to Rooms -Friendship meter horizontal and shows stars instead of words (needs clarification) -Gourmet Street renamed to Food Town (needs clarification) -Tama Depa renamed to Store/Shop or something similar (although the sprite still reads “tama depa” on the sign) This is all I have so far, but if you have an ON and can tell me more changes, that would be greatly appreciated. (Asking since I don’t have one of my own yet, and cannot check myself.)

    Hey look, it's hwd45 again. I wonder what weird topic he's starting this time? I think I'll have to start this with a bit of a disclaimer - I do not know the full extent of the procedure I'm showing off. As such, I cannot guarantee that this will not cause permanent damage to your device, though I do think it's likely that permanent damage is not something that can be attained via these glitches. Regardless, if you do choose to experiment with these glitches, be aware that at the very least you will likely lose your save data. I'm performing these glitches on a pre-owned device that I bought purely for experimental purposes. A few years back someone uploaded a video simply titled "Tamagotchi Glitches" showing some utterly bizarre behaviour that I've never seen from a Tamagotchi before. Another user uploaded a similar video using a Spanish V2. According to the first video, the following process was used in obtaining these glitches: I was not entirely sure what this meant at first, but it turns out that the "slide the battery in and out" is the most important part - the rest seems to be entirely irrelevant. From my own personal experiments it seems like it's harder to get exciting things to happen on screens with a low refresh rate - screens which aren't constantly updating - but pretty much any screen can be used to interesting results. Screens like the idle screen and the health menu have low refresh rates and the battery can actually be taken out for several seconds before the screen fades and it shuts down, whereas the shop screens and the transition to and from the clock screen have an incredibly high refresh rate and the device runs out of battery almost immediately when the battery is removed on these screens. Some screens seem to include more of a danger factor - attempting these glitches on the shopkeeper screen oddly seems to fully reset my device most of the time. What's so exciting about these glitches? Well, what appealed most about them to me was their ability to present the player with content you wouldn't see under normal conditions. Unused items? Unused games? Some utterly bizarre pseudo-characters that emerge from the device using the wrong sprite offset for your character? It's all here. Let's go over some of the exciting things seen in the videos, as well as some of the glitches I've been able to personally replicate. The Character -> Item Glitch One of the glitches I've not managed to reproduce is a glitch which replaces each sprite of your character's animation with an item. Since most of the items shown are V1 items (and hence items with a low item ID value) it stands to reason that the item that's shown seems to represent the ID value of the sprite that's shown. Here's a table: Sprite Item ID Idle 1 BALL 0 Idle 2 PENCIL 1 Happy WIG 2 Mouth closed SUNGLASSES 3 Mouth open TOOLS 4 Eyes closed SKATEBOARD 5 Back turned WEIGHTS 6 No RACQUETS 7 Angry CAPE 8 Sad BOW 9 Running 1 BOOTS 11 Running 2 CAP 12 Fallen over BOW TIE 13 Sitting mouth closed WINGS 14 Sitting mouth open HAIR GEL 15 Close-up close 1 SUNDAE 22 Close-up close 2 MILK 23 Favourite food ENERGY DRINK 52 Close-up mid Poo ?? Tooth brushing (1?/2?) Present Ice Cream ?? I'd like to continue gathering information on these sprites so I can work towards a more complete list of item IDs and sprite IDs. The Character -> Egg Glitch Similar to above - the sprites used for the character are now egg sprites. There's only four egg sprites, though, so after a certain point Petitchi sprites are used instead, but all offset by four. These can be used in conjunction with the item glitch above to figure out item IDs, since we know the difference between the ID of the sprite that is supposed to be shown and the ID of the sprite that is actually shown is four. Here's a table: Sprite Egg / Petitchi Sprite ID Idle 1 Egg 1 0 Idle 2 Egg 2 1 Happy Egg hatch M 2 Mouth closed Egg hatch F 3 Mouth open Idle 1 4 Eyes closed Idle 2 5 No Mouth closed 7 Angry Mouth open 8 The Egg -> Violetchi Glitch One glitch I've successfully performed that wasn't shown in the video was a similar glitch to the above, but instead of a character changing to an egg, the egg changed to have a character's sprite. That's about it, haha. Unused sprites? A few images of the V2 show content which is either never seen under normal conditions or only seen later on the V3. Could they have swapped the shells half way through the video? Perhaps. But it's certainly interesting and worth investigating. And I really have no idea what that "TRY?" menu might do, but I have been able to glitch into random menus using these glitches a few times, so it's possible that this could reveal some hidden functionality or something. The Rebirth Glitch This was a glitch I definitely wasn't expecting. Sometimes, messing with the battery will cause your Tamagotchi to revert back to an egg - this isn't quite the same as a full restart since it doesn't ask you to re-enter the time and date, but bizarrely, it seems to totally randomise the time and date, even to the extent of changing the clock to impossible dates like the 64th of April. The name of your character is also sometimes preserved, but it's usually randomised - this can even mean some of the characters changing to hiragana, like what was seen in the video. Several times I've also encountered glitch characters which will eventually change back to a hiragana character if you scroll far enough, and doing so seems to also change the character to the right of it, too. Very weird. Sometimes, after hatching, another glitch will have taken hold too: The Ball Glitch It's somewhat infamous at this point, but the ball glitch is a glitch which absolutely floods your item and food lists with balls. Occasionally other items end up in there too, but balls are the common denominator. This can go way beyond the 32 item limit and even go over 100, causing the number in the corner of the screen to behave strangely. What happens if you eat one of the non-food items? I wasn't really expecting this to happen, but weirdly, the animation for the standard meal that babies and children eat on the V1 (versions 0.0 - 2.4; or in other words, all the non-American devices) is shown instead. This item isn't seen anywhere else on the V2! My shop also filled with balls. Speaking of the shop, Glitch Items I'm not sure how I pulled it off but I managed to get all the shop items to change to glitch items. And they *stayed* that way, even after changing the battery. I tried buying a couple to see what they did but I couldn't use them as my character was still a baby. The sprites consisted of segments of text taken from the names of other items. Here are the items, and some interesting data to go with them: No. Sprite Price Notes 1 AB 800p Matches price of item ID 3, sprite resembles CRAB (ID ??) 2 K 1000p Matches price of item ID 2, sprite resembles MILK (ID 23) 3 AIT 110p Matches price of item ID 1, sprite resembles PARFAIT (ID 22) 4 ET 200p Matches price of item ID 0, sprite resembles OMELET (ID 21) One interesting side-effect of these sprites being based on the names of other items is that in later variants of the V2 the item names changed and so some of these sprites would change, too. I sent one of the items over to another V2 but curiously it just arrived as one of the standard gift ice creams. I've no idea why. So far the items have been otherwise unusable but it's possible that they'll be usable once my character reaches adulthood. There's definitely some sort of pattern in the data for each of the glitch items. Not only do the item prices match four consecutive items, but the names for each of the items seem to be the same glitchy mess, but shifted along by three pixels to the left for each consecutive item. Three of the small text fragments in the icons seem to match three items known to have consecutive ID numbers, too (as seen above, OMELET, PARFAIT and MILK have consecutive IDs). It stands to reason that CRAB might have an ID of 24 - the only other item ending in "AB" is KEBAB (which was called BBQ on later devices) but this one already has a known ID of 33. This actually aligns with some other known information about the V2 - the food items that are given by Deka characters. Here are the IDs of the Deka characters: ID Character 23 Omuratchi 24 Capsuletchi 25 Tamagotchi 26 Tsutatchi 27 Burgertchi 28 Denpatchi 29 Maikutchi And here are the food items given by each, as well as the ID of that item: Char ID Character Item Item ID 23 Omuratchi OMELET 21 SUNDAE 22 24 Capsuletchi MILK 23 CRAB 24? 25 Tamagotchi FRIED EGGS ?? BANANAS 26 26 Tsutatchi CHERRIES 27 PEANUT ?? 27 Burgertchi BURGER 29 FRIES 30 This can be used as further proof of several item's ID numbers - FRIED EGGS goes in slot 25 and PEANUT in 28. Denpatchi and Maikutchi's items can probably be used to determine more item IDs too, but I'm not sure what items they send to the V2. If you're wondering why the Deka characters give such a strange array of items, it's because the items they give on the V1 actually make some sort of sense, but the IDs used by these items were overwritten by different items on the V2. Anyway, that's enough of that small tangent. This is all I've got for now, but I'll continue to update as I find more interesting glitches! It's fascinating that using glitches like these can give us such an insight into how Tamagotchis work, and I've still got my fingers crossed that I'll eventually obtain a more interesting unused item via these methods.

I found this information in a tamagotchi Facebook group called “Tamagotchi Collectors” and apparently Bandai is planning to release a new western exclusive tamagotchi. The name is “Tamagotchi Pix”. They are listed in Amazon Spain, Italy and UK so far and are available for pre-orders. It is stated that it will be released on 31/8/2021.     Hey guys! The long-anticipated moment has arrived.. I got my very first Tamagotchi! It is the Magic White version of the Tamagotchi ON. So in this log, I won't be posting pics, sadly. LET THE LOG COMMENCE! Friday, 27/11/2020. I started up my new Tama, filled in everything, and got ready for my egg to hatch! It hatched into.. a girl, which my dad named Daisy. I took care of it, then it took a nap for, like 3 minutes. I woke up the screen to see that it had pooped on the spot. Not long after, it had evolved into Chiroritchi, a good care character! So I immediately got to getting out and earning gotchi points. That's it for now, see ya next time! >w<

    The word "Tamagotchi" is a portmanteau of the Japanese "tamago" and the English "watch", with the "gotch" part intended to rhyme with "watch". The small "つ" (tsu) in "たまごっち" ("Tamagotchi" in hiragana, but this also applies to katakana as well) indicates a very brief "break" in the middle of the word that changes the sound of it. Accordingly, per the IPA note on the Tamagotchi Wikipedia page, the correct pronunciation is "Tam-a-gotch-ee" for English speakers (where the "i" is not silent) or "Tam-a-gotch" (where "gotch" rhymes with "watch") in the original Japanese. I do speak and read a little Japanese, and part of its charm is that hiragana and katakana are their own pronunciation-guide. The "i" is silent, not the "t". (I know it throws people to find out that names like "Takahashi" are pronounced like "Takahash", as well. Same phenomenon.)

    Okay, so we've seen the re-release of P1 and P2 Tamagotchis, the Tamagotchi mini's, Digimon, the Tamagotchi Nano's are doing well, and the On/Meets/Some are also doing good. This is purely speculation at this point, but perhaps we may see a new wave of the Angel, Forest, and Ocean? I would seriously flip my lip if that happened! And don't even get me started on the Devilgotchi, if that got re-released it would be amazing. Though that one is probably the least likely to be re-released out of the bunch. I hope that if Bandai goes down this path and Tamagotchi continues to be successful again, maybe they'll re-release the connections as well? Sigh, one can dream. What does everyone else think? Do you think a re-release of the Angel/Forest/Ocean is feasible? Would you also flip your lid? I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts!

    So...Some of you asked me what is going to happen to the https://alexgtama.tk and http://famita.ml TamaTown sites after Flash Player reaches its End of Life (December 31st 2020). @SilicaAndPina and I have decided that the sites will NOT be discontinued and instead they will run on the standalone version of Adobe Flash Player (Adobe Flash Projector). As some of you already know, there is a project being developed to put Adobe Flash Player back on the internet (http://ruffle.rs). So, because it is under active development and its not stable, we have decided that we should wait for a stable version to be released and then implement on our sites (although @SilicaAndPina has already implemented it separately on the V5 TamaTown just for the sake of it). Further instructions regarding the use of Flash Player Projector will be provided at the end of December. We will not allow TamaTown to die so easily. We have done so for years and we will continue!     11/17/20 is when I found my 2 tamagotchis while I was cleaning my closet. I'm currently in college but no one's too old to start playing with these again 😂 Their names are Emily and Jane, still pretty young as they only hatched yesterday. I'm hoping I don't get busy and forget. Although I have lots of real pets, I'm sure I have time to look after Emily and Jane 😅 I had these since I was around 8-9 yrs old. Had no batteries so I bought 2 of them yesterday. Luckily they're past their 'new born stage' before I slept so they don't end up starving overnight. I remember just going to sleep after they hatched and fed them and they started making noises. Kept me up at night as a kid lmao. I planned on getting the Tamagotchi ON but those could wait.     Hello, hello, I'm a long time fan of tamagotchi but a new member to tamatalk! I decided to start a log for the lavender Wonder Garden tamagotchi I just got, which was one part a nostalgia purchase and another part mental health purchase. As silly as it sounds, tamagotchis helped me through depression and anxiety as a kid. They're very much security blankets to me. However this log won't really record my mental health, just the tamagotchi so don't worry about that. Forgive my phone's crummy camera, but I got a baby girl! I've always been more partial to female tamas personally! Also yes, that is my personal art! I find tamagotchi's simple designs lend well to being good warm up sketches so expect seeing some doodles my tamas now and then.

    Fairy ON Benrey evolved into an adult on the 7th and... Hmmm... I'm starting to notice a pattern here. This was one too many frosted Maskutchis for me, so I decided to quit running the ON after Benrey left. This opened up a spot for the newest addition: Magical Meets "New" may have been an overstatement, seeing as the Meets is the same as the ON, but I'm honestly not looking for much change here. I started the Meets a couple of hours after I stopped running the ON and I was greeted by twin boys, Bubby and Coomer (clearly on a HLVR:AI kick over here). They became adults yesterday and I plan on marrying one of them off after making this post. Technically, Bubby has already been married via the app a few times, but I've yet to find a permanent match. L.I.F.E. App Sam ended up dying on the 8th, so I've officially moved on to the second generation with a Tama named, Apple. Apple has already faired better than Sam because he evolved into a Tamatchi. I wonder if the app is as strict with care as the originals because I would love to raise a Mametchi. Also: Food for thought. And that's all! Pixel and Gus are still just chillin. Looking at this post and my last post, I realize that it may be confusing and difficult to understand which Tamagotchis are currently running. It's the P's (Gus), Pac-Man (Pixel), Meets (Bubby and Coomer), and L.I.F.E. App (Apple). I'm going to stop saying when I plan to update because that just doesn't pan out these days, so I'll see you guys next time!

    I'm aware Himediatchi is the "bad care" toddler, but I find her utterly adorable so I'm content with this development, especially since this version of tamagotchi doesn't bar you from certain evolution paths depending on who you get if I understand the growth charts correctly like older gens did. I'm not aiming for any particular teen or adult but I do know I'm going to try and marry her off to Pumpkitchi.

    That's good to know! I always feel bad whenever I raise the Gudetama nano because you have to let them die, so it's nice to know that the Pac-Man Tamagotchi shares the fixed death of the mini. Entama Nutmeg got a job as, I assume, a coach today. I can't read the job options, so the jobs that my Entama gets are always a surprise. She should be getting married sometime tomorrow or Thursday and I'll be deactivating the Entama after that. Fairy ON I did eventually decide to run the ON yesterday (along with another Tama that you'll see in a second). Where we last left the ON, Shy Guy got married and left me with a baby girl who I had apparently named Lucina. She evolved into a Peacetchi and inherited the frosting hair! I'm hopeful that she will inherit her father's body because a Maskutchi with frosting hair would be super cute. Melody M!x I noticed my M!x on the shelf next to my ON and realized I hadn't ran it in a super long time. I think that's mostly because the Meets/ON is the "superior" version, but I figured it could be fun to revisit. Upon starting it, I was greeted with a 9th generation Tantotchi. Nothing much else has happened with her seeing as she was already evolved when I started the Tama. And that's all for today! Going on a little tangent, I wish that the ON and M!x could connect. It's a little strange that they can't, seeing as the Meets and M!x can connect, but I suppose they didn't want to confuse their North American audience. I'm going back to work tomorrow, but luckily this work week is much lighter compared to last week. I will say that I'm kinda nervous though because the sun rays and the sky are looking a little strange again. My job is mostly outdoors too, so having the air filled with ash kind of prevents me from making a living... My next day off is Sunday, but I'll try to update before then if I can.

    I've got something a little bit different for you guys today, and I'm almost certain that this is a virtual pet that has never been covered on TamaTalk before! First things first, this is a Psion Series 5mx - a British palmtop computer which is about the same size as a Nintendo 3DS XL. The Psion Series 5 was released in 1997, and the 5mx (a much-upgraded version) was released in 1999, so the device was contemporaneous with the Western release of the original Tamagotchi Gen 1 and Gen 2 devices, and the ensuing virtual pet craze. While browsing for Series 5 software and utilities recently, I happened across a program called "Fred", which was billed as a "virtual pet novelty" for the system. So, tonight, I installed Fred to see what it was all about, with the intent of adding my findings to my log. Upon starting the program, I was greeted with this. It turns out that Fred is a virtual version of a Pet Rock. It also turns out that there are various witticisms attached to the "activities" that you can perform so as to "care for" Fred. Moreover, they're not always the same every time - for example, choosing the Inject option for the first time will inform you that the needle broke, and choosing it a second time will tell you that the needle is still bent from the previous attempt, and there are multiple quips for attempting to give Fred a drink of Coca-Cola. I went in expecting a basic virtual pet program rather than a joke one, and I found myself very amused indeed - Fred gave me a good laugh. The help files charmingly mention that Fred is free and is "Smileware", so if you like it, smile. I did indeed smile. If anyone else around here owns a Psion Series 5 and is interested in checking out one of the only pieces of virtual pet software for the device (I know of one other, Magic Egg/"MEgg", but it was shareware and the full version probably isn't available anymore), you can download Fred here.

    This custom wearable 20th Anniversary Tamagotchi Mini - which I've named the "Tamagotchi Pinny" - was the result of a couple of my interests colliding. One of the other things that I collect aside from virtual pets is pins, and back in the 1990s I also collected LCD-game wrist-watches and always wondered why Bandai never made a wrist-watch version of the Tamagotchi - after all, the "gotch" part of the brand-name partly comes from the word "watch"! (Other manufacturers did make virtual pets in watch format, but Bandai themselves did not - they only licensed out the Tamagotchi branding for several different types of non-virtual pet watch.) After seeing a picture of a Tamagotchi Mini that had been turned into a ring, this musing about wearable virtual pets resulted in a random decision to create a wearable Tamagotchi of my own. So I picked up a 20th Anniversary Tamagotchi Mini in purple, and I went for it. I almost decided to try this with one of the Tamagotchi Original reissues, but I stuck with the Mini because it's small and light, which is important for its use as a pin, and because it's a low-maintenance virtual pet, which just felt like the right choice for this project. I used multiple layers of Gorilla Super Glue to attach two brooch-bars to the battery cover, and a tie-tack to the clasp part of the ball-chain. The gluing looks hideous and untidy from the back, but it's also very secure and solid. Nobody will see the back when it's in use, anyway! Here's how it looks on my Tamagotchi lanyard. And here's how it looks on a wrist-strap. This isn't a proper watch-strap, but rather a thin charm-bracelet strap - I might get a proper strap for it at a later date, though I prefer the idea of wearing it as a pin so this isn't a priority right now. I left the ball-chain removeable for this purpose, regardless. I'm really happy with how the Tamagotchi Pinny turned out, and I'm looking forward to wearing it at geeky get-togethers in the future. And if I can get an appropriate watch-strap, I might still make that Tamagotchi Original "Tamawatchi" yet!

    From what I understand it will. Be late July when its released, so about the same time as the previous ON launch. Yes! This for sure was the same one! However there was no images but the description was TURQUOISE and LAVENDER, which is the same as the other 2 fantasy meets! But where I work doesn't always get up to date info, and the fact there was no preorder date was concerning so it may be a upcoming announcement soon or a delay. Played enough of the 3rd game so that her 3rd stat (not sure what exactly it's called on the UraTama) is now 110.     Bulbtchi and Nijifuwatchi had twin girls, who I named Flufftchi and Fuzzchi, in the hope that they would inherit some traits from their mother. The result was... Fluffy-faced flying monkeys! Flufftchi and Fuzztchi, who are the 5th generation, inherited Gozarutchi's cream colour from all the way back in generation 1, along with their mother's wings and body-type, and her fluffy facial-features. Fuzztchi just got married to Unipegasatchi, and they had a daughter called Unifuwatchi (I couldn't think of a name for this one, so I just went with the default ). I'll most likely update again once she's all grown up, unless I decide to play with a colour-change before then.

    You got me, I'm a big Fire Emblem fan! Other names I've used include Celica, Chrom, Saizo, and Selkie, just to name a few. I haven't finished Three Houses yet, but the Golden Deer are my favorites (and Hilda is a powerhouse). I don't think I'm doing the classroom part right, but I'm trying my best to figure it out. Fairy ON Speaking of Hilda and Marianne, they evolved this morning! They've inherited their mom's fruit and their dad's fancy ribbons. Speaking of their dad, I noticed something odd when I went onto the app yesterday. He's definitely pink here... ...but he wasn't pink when my last Tama married him. I assume the other person said yes to my proposal, but rejected the egg on their end and then changed their color. It's just strange to me that the family tree on the app updated even though I never interacted with them after that. Marianne has been pink since she was a toddler though... coincidence? Maybe, but I think it would be funny if Hilda took after her father's original color and Marianne just so happened to take after his new one. It would have made way more sense for Hilda to have turned pink due to her namesake, but oh well... V4 @Maria&Co. must have bless Ame's genes because... HE EVOLVED INTO A MAME TEEN!🙌 I swear I rarely have have this kind of luck with Puchitchi, but it's a welcomed surprise. Now apparently, some people have had their teens switch families. It's super unlikely and what I can only assume is from bad luck at that point, but I'm going to be cautious and evolve him into a Mametchi. Only the most Mame of the Mame family bloodline is allowed around here. In order to achieve that goal, I've enrolled him in Mr. Turtlepedia's class. Maybe I'll even evolve him into Tensaitchi, but I make no promises there. And that's all for now! I've got no Gus updates, he's just chillin'. Tomorrow the twins should evolve and I'll likely marry them when that happens. I used to keep my M!x/Meets/ON characters for a little after they evolved, but now I prefer to marry them off ASAP to see the next cute characters I get. See you all soon.~

    When your Tama is a baby you can't travel anywhere. You have to wait an hour or so for it to grow into its child stage and then you can visit other places. As for the other locations where is what you need to do to unlock all the areas. Tama Hotel: Travel anywhere (Park or Department Store found in the door icon on left hand side on the lower row that says "Explore my Town") during the child stage. Food Town: Eat Rice Omelet 5 times at the restaurant (found in the feeding icon shape like a fork and knife). Tama Farm: Visit Food Town several times (keep visiting and it will eventually unlock) Toy Land: You need to be at generation 2 or higher and have your Tama at the adult stage. Buy the drum accessory at the department store (found in the same door icon mentioned for the instructions of Tama Hotel) and put it on, the location will unlock. Starry Sky Lab: Requires your Tama to be generation 2 or more but they can be any stage (child, teen, adult). Go to the department store and buy the starry sky wall paper. Then go out to your yard at 7pm and the location will unlock. Beauty Salon: Change the color of your Tama 2 times. This can be done by feeding your Tama certain foods 5 times in a row. Such foods include stew or rice omelet from the restaurant or cabbage from Tama Farm. Magic Town/Fairy Land: Requires your Tama be generation 3 or higher. This depends on the version of your Tama. If you have a magic version buy the Magic wall paper at the department store then go to the yard at 7pm. If you have the fairy version buy the Dreamy wallpaper and go to the yard at 7am. Tama Sports Plaza: Play with the ball when the Tama is a child or older and connect your ON with two other ON units. You can bypass this a bit by having another ON. Take the ON you want to unlock the location on, and a spare ON. Connect the two together. Then reset the spare using the reset button on the back. Then connect the two again and the location will unlock on the ON you want to open the location on.

    Haven't seen anyone talking about it yet so thought I'd make a post Anyone seen the new tamagotchi yet? It's coming out in late November and it seems to have a diamond kind of thing at the top. Would consider buying it if i wasn't broke lol,,, recently just bought a tama on + I'm a student with no income so I'll have to save up again ;_;

    The moment has finally come! Bandai Japan has just officially announced the Eevee Tamagotchi, which is that fabulous collaboration that was leaked a few weeks back. Tamagotchi and Pokemon fans around the world can rejoice because this one is good. Just as you’ve expected, the details previously provided are pretty much on par with the official details. There will be two versions, ‘Love Eevee’ and ‘Colorful Friends’ which feature different shell designs, but will both have the same content. Each Eevee will hatch from an egg and depending on your care you can get a variety of Eevee’s! Each variation of Eevee is a bit different and all based upon care, there are a total of 8 variations of Eevee; they’re all super adorable! There also appears to be three mystery variations that Bandai has not yet released, but you can see that in the graphic above. You’ll be raising Eevee the whole time, which includes feeding, playing games, and enjoying Eeevee’s close up expressions right on your Tamagotchi screen! How adorable? The Eeeve Tamagotchi’s will be released on January 26th 2019, the MSRP is ¥2300 which is roughly $20 USD. The targeted age group for this device is 6+ due to its simplicity. It’s very important to note that this device is very different from the traditional Tamagotchi as it has similar functionality to the Tamagotchi Nano, and the newer Gudetama Tamagotchi. Bandai will be releasing a video really soon with additional information and functionality. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as we receive additional information.     hi everyone! i'm angus barnaby c, preference for the b; ABC! rn im running a few tamas and i was gonna try to log them because its always super fun! not to mention i'm wanting to make a new purchase and i need to decide what kind to get. probably a v2 or v3, hehe. v3s are my favorite but im not sure! or maybe a meets or a new on. who knows!! let's meet the babies! i turned on my v2 last night and i has a baby boy named cosmo already running, he's gen 3! i'm super proud of him and myself? i don't usually get super far in generations, so it was a surprise to see it! in the middle we have my v3, maya! shes all grown up and ready to rock and roll. i think she can get married tomorrow. she's just a first generation, i started her a few months ago but she's back in action now. we was running alongside my entama who i named ryu (ace attorney is so fun) but i hit a slump n had to put em both aside. im planning on remodelling the entama though, and i can't wait to show that off! finally we have my magic on! memetchi, first gen of course! shes a sweetheart, we're going to get her married to kikitchi today! ok anyways i just wanted to kick this off and get it started!! ill add more at the end of the day, when they've gone to bed and i have more pictures! im thinking about ordering rechargeable batteries and i have the pacman nano coming in the mail, i'm not big on nanos honestly, but went ahead n ordered it when i got my hair dye... it should be here the first n my dyes supposed to come tomorrow... im so pumped! cya then!!

    It's a new Tama log! I've been getting a wee bit bored with Tamagotchis as of late, so I think keeping a log will help continue my interest. Without further ado, it's time to meet the tamas. Fairy ON First up we have the twins, Hilda and Marianne, on the Fairy ON. It's been a bit since I've had twins, so I'm pretty excited for this generation. I don't know about anyone else, but I almost always end up with adult identical twins which is a little disappointing... I enjoy seeing variety in twins and it almost never happens for me (and if it does the differences are very minimal). Hopefully these two will have a little more variety when they grow up. Anyway, after an hour of care, they evolved! It was time for them their mother to leave the nest. I don't know why she's say's "we' when she's moving out because her husband has already been gone at this point. This always happens when you marry through the app. It's kind of funny to imagine your Tama's spouse waiting for your Tama to hurry up and finish raising the kids while they're sitting comfortably in their future home. I guess that's just the struggles of Tama parenthood.¯\_(ツ)_/¯ V4 I've also started my V4 because I was inspired by a recent thread made by Maria&Co. My V4 has also been cursed with Meme family genes, so I want to see if I can change that. One thing we discussed in the thread was marriage through connection, but I unfortunately won't be able to take this approach. For some reason my V4 lost the ability to connect years ago and, despite my best efforts, I've never been able to fix it. So we'll just use the good old care miss method and see if that does anything for us. Here's our first subject, Ame. You can really see how old and beat up my V4 is when the picture is zoomed in like this... Hopefully he will be the first to break the chain, but his mom was a Makiko... the Meme genes are strong with this one. Aaaannnnddd we're already off to a bad start. Puchitchi is the MOST likely to evolve into the Meme family out of all four of the toddlers. I would say that I'll just take perfect care of him to see if I get a Mame teen, but it's Sunday and I slept in, so his stats have already dropped. Now I have two options, go with a Meme adult with kindness or intelligence points and marry him to a Kuchi or Mame adult respectively; or I can raise him into Universal adult and marry him to a Kuchi adult and see what that does. No matter what, I'll still love little Ame. P's Now it's time to introduce, Gus. I might not always do an update for Gus though because he's actually 356 Tama years old! (He was, however, paused for a collective 98 days.) There's not many new things that happen once you're that age... He is by far my longest living Tama (my last record was Jules on the V4.5, 137 Tama years). Again due to the zoomed in picture, you can see how nasty my P's faceplate has gotten over the years... He's a police officer! Also, he has what I like to call "the Ichigotchi charm of longevity". Every Tama I've selected to be my longest living has worn this charm.     Oh my gosh I have the exact same dreams as you, they're occasionally reoccurring (every few months) and there's always either so many (usually free) or so little (usually costs money, weirdly). I once had a dream about going to a thrift store (it looked more like a grocery store with its shelves and layout tbh), and I saw a weird flip-phone Tamagotchi with a transparent background (no paper sheet inside)! Starting this year I've had around two dreams about going to this mall and seeing this store - in the first dream it was a huge store going out of business and it was selling all of it's NIB color tamas for $1 each, then a dream I had way later involved the store back in business, where you could play luck-based games (like the ticket-earning machines you can find in arcades) to win tamas. I won two pink iD Ls (also new in box)! Amazing. I never fail to wake up in a sad state after these dreams. They always vary in location too (similar to yours) - I once had this dream where I was at this country fair of sorts and there was this massive building-sized crate full of Tamagotchis. That was a few years ago now iirc? It was super weird, but pretty cool either way!

    Hi ya'll, just a quick-ish update for the past two days. 18/11/20 Today I took Jal to work with me. Nothing notable happened really, just the usual care. Expecting a matchmaker arrival either tomorrow or the day after. 19/11/20 Slightly more eventful day today, as I was home. We kicked off the day with a glass of juice, which may be from a pervious generation? I didn't remember buying it. I then broke out my old notebook with all my growth charts and codes that I made when I was younger. I decided to enter in some of the shop codes. I was a little disappointed they didn't continue this feature in future versions, it feels almost like an easter egg! In particular, we played with the 'RC CAR 2', which makes some funny sounds. Jal was not impressed when it tipped over. Maybe he shouldn't be driving it so fast then. ...and then, just as I was writing this, we were visited (or rudely approached by) the thanksgiving turkey! Jal was chased all over the screen as I watched on and took photos.

    Log for day 12/10/2020: It never occured to me that the tournaments might probably become tougher as your Tamagotchi wins a lot of them. Today, Gaia has attempted to win the Beauty tournament for a second time, and lost! A Pochitchi participated and won the day! To be fair, this safari photographer look is a lot less "cute" than this: This earned him 95 points. The others were like: and (I like the Takochi pose, he's like "I'm soooo beautiful") And by the way, speaking of very broken english, I hadn't noticed this: "Entry 2 is winner" lol. So laughter! Of course Gaia's feelings were hurt but that's the way of life I guess! Not much has happened in Eternitchi since I was out all day. However, I've made a lot of progress in my attempt to program my own Tamagotchi. I've managed to implement a very simplified text-based simulation of the game in Matlab wherein the user enters his/her commands such as "feed" or "play" and the Tamagotchi's meters change accordingly. (Actually only the "feed" option is implemented). They also decrease over time and the tamagotchi can die if it hasn't been fed for a while. It also beeps when it gets hungry. After a short while the tamagotchi evolves from Babytchi to... nothing since it was only a test so far. (Upon evolving the program just stops and you've won basically). This is what it looks like: The reason for using Matlab is only that I'm the most proficient at it and I'm aware that it's not a good programming language for creating games (or any standalone app in fact). Then I made this: and I stared at it for way longer than a sane mind should, thinking about the many directions of implementation that I could be taking.

    Just a quick update today! Not much has happened at all, in fact I've barely had to pay attention to Naru and Astro all day. Let's get... logging? I won't bother separating into sections, as I literally only have one photo - that being the iD L - here with me: I wish Mimitchi was obtainable on the original iD L. 15th Anniversary ones are so rare nowadays! It's Naru painting Mimitchi's portrait! How cute. The animation lasted for quite a while, so I wondered if it also counted as one of Nachuratchi's Tamatomo Stamps. Doesn't make a difference now, but some 'gotchis can have more than three item-category stamps depending on which one they grow up to be. It's not too common, though. Not much has happened with Astro on the Pac-Man Nano. I've been neglecting them all day, not enough to kill them but only so I can get the good/departure ending if possible. There's a part of me that doesn't want to reset the device itself, despite the fact that the PM Nano doesn't count your generations + you don't get anything special for keeping your save all this time. I even encountered the 256 bug (taken directly from level 256 and earlier from the original Pac-Man arcade game), which happens when you let your tama get chased by ghosts for long enough. And by long enough, I mean actual hours! This unfortunately yields no pictures for today, as poor Astro was getting chased all day long. I've never had a Tamagotchi version so lenient - at least I know which one to run if life gets busy. :D Before that it was always one of my duplicate V5s, which was my most low-maintenance Tamagotchi until a week ago. Interesting times! Other than this *amazing* discovery, I don't have much else to say. Let's see if I can post everyday!! >w< Next post: The ghosts won't stop bothering me about their so-called 'food crisis', look, I don't care if you're only haunting Pac-Man just to beg for a decent meal, I want you all out! Meanwhile, Naru finds true love, and a new lens cap for the camera in her... head? Hat? Anyway, cool adventures and more only on... uh... this log, which now owns the exclusive rights to both the previous praise and you, the reader, as a whole. Run for your life.

    Well, apart from Birokutchi's death this morning, today was pretty calm. I introduced Gaia to Math tournaments. Of course, she failed. (I've read that they're bound to fail on their first trial - and yeah, she's a female all of a sudden, don't ask). She felt terrible about it! ... so I gave her her first cake ever since she was born to console her. And that's pretty much all that happened today. ------------ I'm also wondering whether I should log about this: I'm not constantly using my PC, but I've been raising this poor thing for about a month (yet it's only 5 days old lol). Reading others' logs made me interested in the latest Tamagotchi releases and I've realized how accurate this unofficial PC version was. I wish I could play this on my smartphone but there doesn't seem to be a simple way to do so. (I also wish I could make the screen bigger). Yes, I named her PoorGirl because I find it difficult to raise her correctly due to me often being AFK. Besides, I know nothing about how the more recent Tamagotchi releases operate and the game doesn't come with instructions. (I especially didn't understand how to use codes). Please let me know if you think I shoud cover this.

    After having evolved into a Marutchi in between the last log entry and this one, Bimmy grew into a Tamatchi today. Tamatchi always amuses me because it looks like a badly-drawn Kirby. Tamagotchi GB's sports game only accentuates this further, with the character hopping between ledges in a hilariously-wonky-looking fashion. Unfortunately, a little while later, Bobbo passed on. I'll actually miss him (in as much as one can miss a fictional virtual alien creature from a simulation game), since my fondness for the Game Boy line means that I feel more of an attachment to this game and its creatures than I typically do with the dedicated virtual pet devices. Goodbye, Bobbo - it was a fun time. A nice touch is that Tamagotchi GB has a built-in memorial feature as part of its save-file, with spaces to save data about eight favourite Tamagotchis that you've raised. If you have a Tamagotchi in another room when the one in the first room passes on and you resume the game after the memorial screen without choosing to hatch another egg, you'll see that the first room is now empty. Though the same jolly music as before plays, it seems sad since now your Tamagotchi is no longer there with it. This game's emotional beats are very well-thought-out, I think. Meanwhile, Bimmy went on with his life, blissfully unaware of what had just transpired next door. Given what I noted above about Tamatchi looking like a badly-drawn Kirby, this picture entertains me more than it should. At one point, I briefly forgot the carrots-only rule that supposedly yields Mimitchi, and ended up feeding Bimmy a cake - hopefully that won't have a negative effect on the end-goal! Soon enough, the in-game night fell, and it was time for Bimmy to get some sleep - isn't he cute? Whilst it was fun raising two Tamagotchis at once for a while, I don't think that I'll do so again anytime soon, if ever, and I certainly don't plan to raise three at a time, either - it's just a bit too hectic for my liking, and I prefer the game's more chill nature when you're raising just one pet at a time. So, for now, it'll just be Bimmy, until his time is up. While I'm here, I just want to draw everybody's attention to @LucidLyes thread, "How to make Tamagotchi for Game Boy more like a real Tamagotchi", as it's a great effort at bringing more community attention to the game by providing a ruleset for playing it that puts it more in line with the dedicated virtual pet devices that run in real-time. If you're at all interested in Tamagotchi GB, I highly recommend checking it out!

    Hi guys! I just thought of a way to make the Tamagotchi GB game more interesting and more like having an actual Tamagotchi. Just thought I'd share it somewhere. The problem with the GB version is that time flies by too quicly compared to a real tamagotchi, but too slowly so that you get bored staring at the screen doing nothing. One argument I've often heard/read (and I thought so myself too) was that no one will leave their Game Boy on 24/7 just to simulate a real tamagotchi. Well, yesterday I decided to give it a try. I downloaded an emulator on an old phone I had and decided to leave it on, turning the phone to a tamagotchi. I quickly realised that even doing that would be annoying, because the tamagotchi will annoy you for about an hour, calling you every 5 to 10 minutes, and then he'll fall asleep and you won't hear from it for about an hour. So even playing the game that way is kind of annoying. That's when I realised that you didn't *have* to leave the Game Boy on all the time. Since time goes by faster in the game than in real life (I've timed it, a real-life hour is equal to about 3 minutes in the game), then just turn the game on for one in-game hour every hour. A lot of players have invented new games based on old video games by inventing new rules to follow (e.g. the "Beat Zelda without the sword challenge"). Well, here is a game that definitely needs similar measures! So here are the rules I've invented for myself: 1/ Do not let the in-game clock pass the current hour in real-life (you should take note of the date you started your tamagotchi, the number of days printed on screen should match the number of days since you've hatched the egg). 2/ If for some reason you couldn't turn on the game for many hours, you should turn it on and let it sit until the in-game clock catches up. During this time you can forbid yourself to take care of the tamagotchi (to make it more like an actual tamagotchi that you can forget). That's all! I think the game becomes much more interesting by playing it this way, let me know what you think!

    The Tamagotchi Digital Pocket Background information What is it? During the peak of Vintage Tamagotchi in Japan - Bandai capitalised on the Virtual Pet toy's popularity by making a variety of spin-off LCD games. This device - the Tamagotchi Digital Pocket, is one of them. I estimate that it was released in 1997/98 as supported by the copyright information on the back of the device - and the fact it contains P2 assets. It's unknown how popular these devices were - however they have become incredibly obscure. Gameplay Starting up a game. On starting up the device - you'll be greeted with an image of the P1 Egg. Pressing the B button will allow you to change between the default egg (P1), the P2 Black Egg, or Obaketchi - as of this moment in time I believe that these are different puzzle sets a player can pick between. On pressing the A button the User will be able to select between two difficulties - 'Hard' and 'Easy' - the major difference between the two is the playable time limit. Hard mode gives the player 25 minutes to complete a Picross puzzle, where as Easy gives the user 45 minutes. After this the user is given two options - 'Play'; which starts the puzzle without additional hints, leaving the player to solve the puzzle themselves, or 'Hint'; which draws two lines, one vertical, one horizontal to give the user a bit of a head-start. The Gameplay The Gameplay itself is your standard Picross fare. The numbers on the top-row of the display represent how many blocks you have to fill in horizontally, while the numbers on the side represent vertical. The goal is to use these numbers to correctly fill in a sprite. When the player makes a mistake - time is deducted from them. So far from my tests these seem to mostly be Tamagotchi P1 and P2 sprites - I'll be keeping an Imgur album of completed puzzles when they are done. Pausing The pause button is the bottom 'option' button - this will take you to a screen with a question-mark. Up and down on the D-Pad will allow you to change the device's contrast - left and right will allow you to select between 'Play', 'Sound' and 'Give-up' and selected with the A button. On Puzzle Completion The device will play an animation from the item you have completed - in the case of an Egg, it will play a breaking animation. After this you will unlock new puzzles to complete, confirming my suspicion that the different eggs were in fact different puzzle sets. To avoid spoilers the device shows a babytchi doing various little animations ripped from the Tamagotchi P1 device. Pressing the 'A' button will take you to the next puzzle.     At around 10:15PM, something finally happened! My Tama turned into a cocoon! So, I kept him with me all day, but I never heard the music that plays when a Tama evolves. The sound on this has been pretty low as well, and it's really bugging me. I don't know if its a battery problem, a problem with my unit, or some other third thing. In my next run I'll replace the batteries just to be safe, and hopefully that fixes it. When your Tama turns into a cocoon, the status screen shows this instead of the usual meters, age, and weight: The Temperature Screen! Pushing the A button changes which way the arrow is facing, and the other 2 buttons just take you back to your cocoon. My theory is that over time, it slowly gets hotter or colder (depending on where the arrow is facing), and you have to check in every few hours to make sure it doesnt get TOO hot or cold. I always thought you'd push the B button and it would change instantly, but I guess I was wrong Since this is the polka dot egg, we're destined to get Kabutotchi within the next 24 hours. I wont spend too much time with Kabutotchi, as much as I love Rhino Beetles, I really want to see the other Tamas in this version! I'll stick with Kabutotchi for a bit to document what hes like and stuff, but after a few days, I'll either get more lax when it comes to taking care of him, or just reset, idk yet. Welp, I'll see you guys when Kabutotchi emerges from his cocoon!

    Ohhh that's probably what it was. I saw a topic on the forum years ago about a teen evolving into the wrong family, but the discussion must of been about a V4.5 and not a V4 like I thought it was. I do find it interesting that the V4.5 allows you to switch families like that though. It's much more merciful that the V4... ~ Fairy ON The twins evolved this morning! I was hoping they would inherit their father's Mimitchi body shape, but I hadn't considered how strange a "bald" Mimitchi looks. Of course, they also became identical twins like I said they would... I don't mind too much, but I would love for a little diversity when raising twins. Like look at these guys I found! They look completely different and yet very much related! I feel like I'm being too harsh on my girls, but sometimes you just want to complain about things outside of your control. More importantly though, Hilda got married! She married an NPC Tama because I want her child to inherit that Coffretchi hair, but also maintain the Mimitchi body type. I tried to marry her to someone else that would keep the Mimitchi body type in my gene pool... ...but she was rejected. It all turned out fine in the end because if Hilda wasn't rejected, then we never would have met... Delilah! We went through the typical baby hour stuff until she evolved. She looks exactly like her mom and aunt did at her age. V4 Not much going on with Ame today. I accidentally gave him a care miss because I didn't hear his numerous cries for attention despite the fact that he was right next to me the entire morning. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Not to worry, he's still on track to become a Mametchi even with my shortcomings in caring for him. I believe he's due to evolve tomorrow, but it's been so long since I've ran my V4 that I'm having a hard time remembering. We'll just have to see what happens... As per the usual, there's no Gus update. Maybe I should tell you guys something about him anyway? Gus fact : Gus can survive 5-6 hours without any care as long as his stats are full beforehand. This means I've gotten a little lazy and risky by not really paying attention to him until noon or one' o'clock in the afternoon. It hasn't gone south yet, but I should really be more careful with my guy. That's all for today! See you guys next time.
