  1. I can't remember. I'm leaning towards virtual pet (at least not "tamagotchi connection") but the glimpse I saw of the packaging from far away looked almost identical to the 20th Anniversary chibi packaging...
  2. New dream mix came in! Finally I can unlock areas in my other m!xes!

It really brings a new life to the M!xes when you're able to do that. So many more combinations!

I'm so excited - but a little worried about running multiple tamas, haha!

      Same! It's so pretty

  3. I agree with Jhud and penguin-keeper on the counterfeit vs copycat/rip-off difference. I've also noticed with some items the counterfeit is so bad it may as well be a rip-off, and vice versa - in this case it's obvious for tama collectors, but for others like parents or kids, not so obvious. I guess I'm just wondering whether information on counterfeits is more for the tama community only or for anyone who thinks they're getting a tamagotchi. These ones my neices & nephews had looked very similar to the ones on eBay that say "tamagotchi connection" but are clearly not actual tamas - but they still didn't look the same. I actually can't find the ones these kids had on ebay, so now I'm curious where their parents purchased them from.
  4. That's correct. No growth. You don't get to play with the character versions, as far as I can tell (i.e. there's the core characters that are always there and they have versions you 'catch', but it just adds to a gallery - a super cute gallery though). By playing with it you're supposed to be able to unlock new things - food, traps, clothing/hats - but so far I've only unlocked a couple of things. Everything else has been purchased through points I've earned in the mini games.
  5. So at a family gathering today, and a bunch of the nieces and nephews all had fake tamas - the B&W pixel type, 4 buttons, 32-in-1 pet. I was asked to help them learn how to use them. Apparently one of them came missing the screws holding the battery plate in place. From memory, the kids could: - read to it (book animation) - feed it snacks or meal - exercise it (this was weird) - give it medicine (ambulance animation and then a plunging syringe) - clean its poop There seemed to be a fake communication icon that was always on, too? It had multiple meters - EQ, Heart, Food and Health. And if it slept you could turn the lights on and off, too. I don't remember any games. Eventually, they all chose which pet type they wanted, and started to learn and get excited about their virtual pets. I tried to help by making up a story about the pets - there really seemed to be little incentive other than keeping meters full. To be fair, their parents didn't have much money for many proper new toys, especially as these kids fight quite a bit and often break toys if they don't get bored of them first. I know it's a pain to see so many fake tamas while looking for our next great deal or favorite shell, but a lot of "rip-off" ebay and Wish is an option for people looking for alternatives to things that are just too expensive, just so their too-young-to-know kids don't feel like they're missing out (perfect example of this is the My Little Pony rip-off, My Lovely Horse). Knowing how much I've spent on even my cheapest tamas, it's just not an option for these guys, especially as ebay sellers just keep increasing the prices on anything tama related knowing us collectors will usually happily pay. Not saying it's right, but just something to think about I guess.
  6. Hey all, So I got my Sumikko Atsume yesterday and have been playing with it since after work. A few things I've noticed so far: 1. It has a nice color screen, "proper" sounds (i.e. not various beeping tones like the Tamagotchi, which my bf hates), and utilises shaking/movement for many of its features. 2. You're looking after numerous characters, not just one. Simple feeding, petting, etc. Looks like you can also unlock clothing items for each one. 3. There are 6 mini games, which are all very short. I like the fishing game, where you 'flick' the toy to catch the fish. I'm still trying to figure out things - you collect or 'capture' versions of each character type? You also have to figure out what each character's favourite food is? Still working on it, so I can report back here if anyone wants (someone will probably make a guide eventually, though - right?) I'm enjoying figuring it out and translating things as I go. It's at about a 8/10 cute level - it's cute in that the animals are adorable and do adorable things (there also appears to be a 'pork cutlet' [tonkatsu] character?), but they don't interact with you the same way a tamagotchi character does. A couple of Sumikko Atsume videos in English for those a little more curious, too.
  7. Finally got a tonne of work done AND my Sumikko Atsume came in the mail! Finally a chance to play with all of my pets!!! (^_^)

It's a bit of a learning curve but very fun!

  8. This is all super helpful and really interesting to see the differences in what people look for in a tama! I've been browsing for English tamas since starting this thread, and grabbed a used v4 i think (the shell is light blue with hibiscus flowers) which just arrived today - but it's now 10:30pm so not going to start that one up just yet . I've definitely been thinking of the Music Star - mostly because it just looks really interesting. I did just get a japanese Familitchi (v5?) and was thinking of finding an English one but a) need more storage, and should probably play with the japanese version first!
  9. I pulled an all-nighter to get an assignment in and am now too tired to play with my first English connection (v4)

I know the pain. I work full time and go to school part time and it's killing meeee. I'm taking some time off after the class I'm taking now and I can't wait.

Same, school is currently hell. We have final exams, and also I’m like the least liked person in class so like everyone bullies me. Tamas and art have kept me sane through this whole year, we have 5 more weeks, thank god..

  10. Does anyone know - if you replace the batteries in the home deka, does it keep memory or reset?

      KidRetro64

I think it keeps it, although if you do that in an Original vintage tamago, it wipes all of your progress away. My guess is that it DOESENT.

Thanks - maybe I'll stop earning money on it just in case :)

  11. Big tama-mail haul arrived yesterday but I'm too busy with work/study to play with any of it :(

Aww, that sucks. The end of the school year at university is always brutal. What did you get in the mail?

tamasuku v1, furefure, king of games deka, id station, familitchi, and an entama! hopefully i can do a haul post soon!

  12. Ordered one too. I've been um-ing and ahh-ing for ages but finally did it after seeing some instagram posts and watching YT vids (because what else changes your mind, right?).
  13. Are you pressing the 'B' button when you set them to connect - after they start the heart-communication symbol bit? You only need to press 'B' on one.
  14. Back to running only one tama. Feels so much easier ^_^

Wish I could feel the happiness of only running 1, I would run my Angelgotch again!

  15. Thanks - I'll try that and see how it goes. It's been going off sync probably every couple of days or so, so I should know pretty quickly if it's the batteries or another problem.
