I don't think pausing your tama will caused your tama to act weirdly.
Define weird please. ^_^
But nah, pausing rarely has bad effects especially on these new tamas.
Pausing is bad on the Umi *Ocean* tamagotchi but I don't think it does anything bad to other tamas.
If you are really worried about pausing, don't advance the time.

Pausing your tamagotchi will effect it's growth. After pausing for more than a week, results make conclude into illness, etc.
It won't do real harm, except it will stop the growth temporarily and it may make it sick. I suggest you pause it for only a day.

actually when i put my tamagotchi in pause it does not grow and if you pause your tamagotchi while it needs attention it might die. ^_^
