I have a Tamagotchi Connection and I went to do something with it and a big X came up flashing. I can't get it to go away. What does this mean? Batteries are dead?

yup, that happened to me yesterday on my girl and today on both of my boys, you need to go out and get a new battery 
they didnt even last one life cycle for any of mine
