There is no such thing as Version 3 or 4. A new tamagotchi will be released on July 23 called the Akai Tamagotchi, and it will have a red screen and new games. I suppose this could be considered the 3rd version...But these may not even be released outside of Asia, and if they will be then they won't be out for several months.

 
Yeah, the new ones are the Akai (all that is red) and the Deka2 home Deka Tamagotchi.

Those look like they will be Japan only items again. America never saw the big Deka display tamagotchis. Those were in some public places like Lotteria (fast food joint) where you could take your tama and get visits from special characters like Burgertchi and get special items.
