I was just wondering this , randomly.

Why is red a warning sign ? you know , people bold things in red , and put important information like ø or NO or STOP or something.

Why is this ? :p

Blood is a warning/threat/danger, right? Thats probaily why.

And, I think this, dunno if im accurate, Red was The Devils color, as 6 was Devils number, and the devils day was 6/6/6.

It grabs peoples attention. You wouldn't look if the sign was light pink, would you? Red is a bold, bright color that people are naturally inclined to look at.

what does red have to do with that number ?

and not every warning means death , blood. like DONT POST HERE. just cause its in red dosent mean your gonna die :p

It is an eye catching color. Kay?

Simple as that. They put it in red, because people are more likely to look at it.

This is necesary if something is important, or needs to be read.

WARNING

STOP

See? More eyecatching.

I guess , but so is blue , green , even black :p stop making me feel stupid
Blue, green, and black aren't eye catching. If there was something written in red, next to something written in black, which would you look at first? The red.

Nobody is trying to make you feel stupid.

WARNING

See? Red is more eye catching. Even though its not on top, your eyes see it first.

Red is a common warning sign for three reasons:

1) It is bold and bright, so the human eye is naturally attracted to it.

2) Some smart dude decided to make EXIT and STOP and WARNING red ;) and we've adapted to it

3) Red is the opposite of green, which is a color we are very used to seeing.

Great Topic, :)

Yeah, red is very eye-catching I think.

It's bright. It stands out, and symbolizes danger.

(I sound like a teacher! ;) )

Yeah, and it's the color of blood.

Red is mostly a bright color so lets say they want red for stop becuase it catches people attention

Lots of people said that, but deep skyblue stand out!

why not that ? or Lime green too!
because our eyes are too used to those colors.

they don't pop to the human eye as much as red do.

why do you think the american patriots wore blue, and not red? th blue stayed hidden better in woodland areas.. unlike the british who wore red, which you could see miles away

the red pops out more, making the warning more noticable

What happens when our eyes get used to red ? ;)
