It's like a random catchphrase that is (initially) shared between friends and then spreads over the internet and becomes an "in" joke/word to say.

People referring to SPARTA! or Chuck Norris are examples.

You also see animated avvies (with things like "Shoop Da Woop" on them).

There are others, but, well... you get the idea :blink:

Well in that case, I find them pretty amusing, although a bit annoying when they're said over and over again in the same context.

Kinda like "epic win" or "noob"

 
tamacrazy_101, I hate you for making me lose THE GAME. xDD I had gone like three days without losing.

Anyway. I love them. I especially love dragging them out from the dark unforgiving corners of the internet and quoting them IRL. Extra lulz is added when nobody has any idea what I'm talking about because they have lives and spend less than three hours on the computer daily.

This topic is really confusing me, but it's intriguing, and I like it.

Sayings like n00b, PWNed, fail and epic win are completely and totally overused, but in most cases I still find them funny. xD

Okay, you are constantly playing the game.

You can't win the game, you can only lose it.

You lose when you think about the game. (Shoot, I just lost. xDD)

If you lose you have to announce it to somebody.

There is a half hour grace period after you lose so you cant lose twice in the same half hour.

That's basically all it is really. xD

 
I think that they're pretty funny sometimes, especially how they soon get into the real life world.

I don't even know how many times 'epic fail/win' , 'pwn' and 'noob' have come up in my life.
