i'm trying to get my v3 and v4 to have kids but they won't! and i tried using the love potion/honey thingy and it still didn't work! help! 
can a v3 have kids with a v4?

I think this should be moved to Tamagotchi Help and also I don't think they can have kids otherwise I don't know.

A v4 and a v3 can have kids of course! But there are several things you need to do first 
Ok first get their relationship level to full (meaning 4 hearts on the friendship chart)
Then make sure they are both adults of the opposite sex
Both tamagotchis must be over 4 yrs old to mate

They can have kids. Mine had kids a few days ago. You just have to connect alot.

Yes you can, I do it all the time.
Your problem might be the battery. I had this a while ago.
Just reset and download both of them, make sure they're 5, and then connect away =]
