What are some good painting programs? You know, it has to be like trustable. I want one that has cool features and stuff but I want it to be free. So...know any? : D

SAI Paint Tool.

That is what I use because it's wonderful for linearting. The feature I like from it is that you can straighten the lines, it automatically straightens the lines for you, or you can use the 'curve line' tool. Has great layering compatibility, tools are more versatile, and it's completely free.

a list of some (the starred ones are the ones I use)

*gimp

*photoshop

sai

paint.net (although, I could never figure it out)

opencanvas

GIMP is good as other people have said, and I also have Photofiltre which doesn't have as many tools as GIMP but it's easy to use in my opinion. I'm not much a photo editor myself, so photofiltre might not be good enough for what you want to do.

I highly recommend GIMP. It's really easy to use with Photoshop tutorials. You could use Paint.net, but I don't like it as much...

It's not free. You have to pay 50 bucks for the full version, but, like anyone, we torrent |D I have a cracked version that works with Vista

But yeah, Sai is EXCELLENT for drawing/coloring/lineart.

  • Paint.NET is what I used before Photoshop CS4.
GIMP is also good, a bit confusing though.
Do you have a Windows or a Mac? Just wonderin'.
Oh, and you can get PS CS4 30-day trials.

I had Adobe Photoshop CS2.

I used a Keygen to unlock it though.

Then my sister traqded computers and it blew up on her .-.

Well myspace has a photo editor if you upload your photos. Its nice for editing and such...

I figured I'd make mention of it. I use it when I have no photoshop programs available to me and don't want to use MSpaint.

Definitely, as others have said, GIMP is excellent, and 100% trustworthy.

It works in a very similar way to photoshop, so you can use some tutorials, though there are also lots of useful guides on the gimp site, and also on sites like DeviantArt :)
