If by "like other vintage Tamagotchis" you mean go to the clock and then press A and C simultaneously until it says SET on the screen, yes, you can pause the Angelgotchi that way.

thank you! man i got so confused.... i was watching the old U.S. angel commercial on youtube and one girl said she could pause it so yaIf by "like other vintage Tamagotchis" you mean go to the clock and then press A and C simultaneously until it says SET on the screen, yes, you can pause the Angelgotchi that way.

I believe the American Angel has a pause feature (I think). However the Japanese version doesn’t - you have to do as OldSchoolTama suggested - entering SET mode in the time screen.

It suggests pausing through entering the timer mode as well.
