hello! can your tamagotchi have a baby without connecting to other tamagotchi?

Yes. All that are capable of mating "by IR connection" also have a built-in matchmaker / dating channel / dating place that can be used to provide a mate for your Tamagotchi character if you don't have another Tamagotchi toy to connect to.
