The circus arrives without warning.

No announcements precede it, no paper notices plastered on billboards. It is simply there, when yesterday, it was not.

The towering tents are striped in white and black, no golds or crimsons to be seen. No color at all, save for the neighboring trees and grass of the surrounding fields. Black-and-white stripes against grey sky, with an elaborate wrought-iron fence encasing them in a colorless world. Even what little ground is visible from outside is black or white, painted or powdered or treated with some other circus trick.

Within these nocturnal black-and-white striped tents awaits an utterly unique experience, a feast for the senses, where one can get lost in a maze of clouds, meander through a lush garden made of ice, stare in wonderment as the tattooed contortionist folds herself into a small glass box, and become deliciously tipsy from the scents of caramel and cinnamon that waft through the air.

Welcome to Le cirque des Réves.

As you may have guessed (or not) this an au roleplay of the book "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern. You don't have to have read it before to join, so I'll explain the entire circus premise. The circus is incredibly different from any other circus before it, with more than one tent, dozens, maybe hundreds of tents and outdoor acts. It is also magic, with each performer bound to every other by a book that lists every name, and every act. The cirque is as if it is a living entity itself, preserving everything within the iron fence around it to an unlimited extent (in other words, the performers are near immortal, and don't age normally. One drawback is not being able to reproduce), by means of a white fire burning in a pitch black cauldron.

The Circus opens at sundown. And closes at dawn. It leaves nearly as quickly as it came, disappearing from an area after a week or two, as if it had never been there.

*The acts

Illusionists* I will allow as many as three illusionists. First come first serve. The illusionists use real magic, and simply add devices as if it were artificial.

Fortune Teller* Again, no trickery to be found here. Please only one fortune teller, first come first serve.

Animal Tamers* Introducing the world-renowned animal tamers. Taming such beasts as Lions, Tigers, and Elephants! As many as four animal tamers, working either independently or as a group is fine.

Acrobats* Occupying the space within the largest tent are the acrobats. Working with little practice, and no net underneath the towering platforms is quite dangerous, luckily, there have been no injuries within the century-old circus. I want most of the performers to be acrobats.

Other Acts* There are a number of acts without tents, even so, they are among the most fabulous. These include a contortionist, living statues, world-renowned musicians, etc. You can make up your own if you wish.

* The Rules *

-Medium-advanced literacy is required, of course.

-I am the maker of this roleplay, what I say goes.

-Acception of form is required.

-No anime, or kawaiis or Mary-Sues and companions. Or whatever you call it these days.

-All Tamatalk rules apply.

Name: Asvoria

Age: 19

Performer: Illusionist

Personality: Asvoria is the type of girl who doesn't back down from a good challenge but her competitiveness isn't strong enough to constantly get her in trouble. She has a hard time trusting people but it is one things she wants to do most. She puts on a mystical persona while she performs, wanting to truly put on a show and captivate their senses.

History: Asvoria comes from a European family. Her strict parents and even more strict German grandmother continuously clashed with her different opinions and wants. She was forbidden to see any form of circus event, so that is exactly what she did. After running away at the age of seventeen, she found the black and white tents of the Night Circus. Le cirque des Réves.
