Many of you people probably also saw my earlier rant on 3DS. Well, this is a continuation of that rant, only a little more spread out.
Does anyone here agree with me that Nintendo is digging their own grave?
I personally think this has been happening for a couple years now.
First off, just look at the wii games they've been releasing recently:
Mario Party 9
Rhythm Heaven Fever
PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond
Notice how all of them are sequels to games that were all unpopular (Minus Mario Party, although 8 was definitely disliked). It's like, seriously?
Mario Party got old a long time ago, the first three were fun, four was eh, five was eh, six and seven were fun for a while, and 8 was just an absolute wreck with the creepy mascot dude.
Rhythm Heaven DS was the worst, most pointless game I ever played and I ARed it so I could have all the games. I think the wii version would just be painful.
PokePark just looks like a game meant to appeal to the 7 year old boys who watch Pokemon on Saturday mornings.
I'm disappointed by the fact Nintendo can no longer come up with games that are original, and different.
It's just all sequels, everything. Name a game they made for the gamecube (Or any Nintendo console) with the word Mario before it, and there is probably a sequel for it. They have a sequel for Mario Tennis in the works, and although I enjoyed Mario Power Tennis, it got boring quickly after I completed the main game.
Nintendo needs to hurry up and come up with some more games, ones that aren't sequels (I am actually okay with sequels, but they need to actually be entertaining enough to last long enough for me to want to play them), and maybe ones that could appeal to older audiences more, well, at least for the 3DS. I can bet more older kids own the 3ds consoles than kids, just because I doubt parents would buy their little kids something so expensive and breakable (They'd be more likely to buy their kids wiis).
Even Pokemon, a franchise you can always count on to provide you with great games, is starting to fall apart. Just look at Pokemon Black and White 2.. The two mascots are just colored Kyurems and that's about it. The title is also the most unoriginal name I have heard, I personally would've liked Pokemon Gray better. And then as I mentioned in my previous rant, all I seem to see these days are B&W Pokemon. It's like Nintendo has abandoned all the previous generation pokemon minus pikachu, since pikachu is like the symbol of pokemon. Just look at Pokedex 3D. No not Unova pokemon to be seen anywhere.
And, the 3DS. Well, I already ranted about that over in my other topic which is in this section. But seriously, the only thing going for the 3DS is the 3D. The internet browser stinks and doesn't even have flash. It can't even load TamaTalk for me. Even StreetPass fails to work, I was at the mall today, and I saw a boy playing with his 3DS. I walked by him like three times, and did not get a streetpass tag even though it was enabled and everything.
Nintendo, please step your act up. Stop making sucky sequels, if you're going to make sequels at all, at least make them fun. Also try to work harder on making your handheld consoles more workable. And try to make an effort to keep your fans, because otherwise even hardcore Nintendo fans like me will end up converting to Sony or Microsoft fans.
