"Tamagofchi" Virtual Pet with uncanny likeness

Recommended Posts

Okay so I was browsing ebay UK and came across this listing...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Virtual-Pet-Like-Tamagotchi-49-In-1-Cyber-Pet-Toy-Retro-BLUE-PET-Digital-/171425191618?pt=UK_Toys_ElectronicPets_RL&hash=item27e9bcd6c2

I did a double take after I saw the lines on the "tamagofchi" background. And the logo too was very convincing for anyone with bad eyes or poor observation.

The shells/egg likeness is uncanny though, right?! I mean I had to laugh out loud when I realized that this wasn't at all a Bandai product. I was wondering why there was a day to go and no bids XD

Ah dear.

Buyer beware

and by that I just mean study the picture and read the title listing.

What I did was just take a look at the thumbnail picture and think OMGZ CHEAP TAMAS!!!111

Don't make this mistake!

It looks like the logo says Famagofchi. They turned the T's into F's. Definitely Tamagotchi wannabes.

Ooh looks like you're right - the Famagofchi XD My bad eyes and observation skills must be bad!

It appears this Chinese company are a bit confused as to what to call the brand.

Look'ee here..

The logo on the packaging says "Tamamotohi" I think. Very clever. Very clever indeed...

Anyone know what that price translates to in $?

Looks interesting to say the least. I used to collect odd knockoffs a long time ago, and those lok like they'd fit right in with my collection.

According to Google £6,99 is the equivalent to $11.60 dollars... That's the sort of price I'd pay for a used legit tamagotchi, but the seller posts worldwide, so if you fancy a cleverly marketed virtual pet, go for it!

EDIT: This listing also ships worldwide and is around $8 incl shipping.... You may want to bid on this instead. I may be totallyy wrong, but usually on a tamagotchi, UK ebayers would have put down a bid or two by now, so you might get lucky... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Virtual-Pet-Like-Tamagotchi-49-In-1-Cyber-Pet-Toy-Retro-BLUE-PET-Digital-/171425191618?pt=UK_Toys_ElectronicPets_RL&hash=item27e9bcd6c2#shpCntId

I think the transparent shells are actually quite pretty, especially the blue one. I wouldn't mind having the shell and putting v4 or entama works into it. But those lines for the background? Please.

I recognize that giraffe. It seems that those fake guts are extremely common. I've seen them in a variety of shells. I have a translucent orange one shaped like a P1 with four buttons. It has a cover than can open and close like a lid. There was a video review of it on YouTube before in a big, Version 3-like shell with a clip and four buttons. But that video is gone now.

The virtual pet has a wide range of pets to choose from. It will show their final evolved form when you choose them, and they evolve over time. They're pretty cute but you can only play games and stuff when the pet WANTS you to. I think the best feature is the weather. When it's raining you need to give your pet an umbrella and when it's sunny you need to give your pet a hat.

I honestly feel bad for the person who doesn't know that this Tamagotchi is fake... :(

      Hello!
This post is about vintage, connections and up to uratama. About how to repair them.
My native language isn't English, so this might be a bit of a strange read. 😋
If you have a pet that have lazy buttons or fading screen, or maybe doesn't seem to work at all, there is a thing you can do.
You can open up your device, it's easy! Take out all the screws, but remember where they are supposed to sit! Then you can take the screen off. It's No worries! And of it's broken - take the chance to fix it! It's no problem!
Then after you have taken off everything, you clean everything on the circuit board.  Careful! With alcohol or some other ok liquid for cleaning electronic stuff. You do this with a cotton wad stick, like those for the ears... But don't use a used one! Don't be cheap, take a new one. It's worth it.
Then if something is wrong the paper behind the screen on your Tamagotchi, like water damage maybe? Then you can throw away and make a new one! Draw something naughty and put it where the old paper was and TADA! New background.
Make sure to clean the buttons and where they push! Press them a bit insideout and clean.
Well, after everything is clean, you put it together!!! Remember where the screws went??? I hope so. They have different sizes you know. But don't worry - you did! Yay! It wasn't hard at all and there wasn't many of them!
When the little critter is put back together, you put the batteries in and try it out. The screen will be stronger now and the buttons a lot bettet!
But if it still does NOT work it might have something else wrong. You might need to solder. That is a bit more advanced.
You'll need to change the 47uf capacitor! I'll write how... It's the funny round things with legs. You need to get it out! Cut it out of the circuit board and make sure EVERY part of it is out. Ok? Then you take your new 47uf capacitor and put it in it's place! Make sure it sits the right way! And you solder that capacitator into place!
But some pets use different capacitators, so get the right uf. Ok? There are different volt in capacitators but Tamas use very little.
Soldering isn't so hard. Save your Tamagotchi!
(If it's just your sound wires, then you can hot glue them.)
Anyway... I hope this wicked post helps a Tamagotchi breeder... Somewhere.
A take apart video!!! Notice the screen. Clean it!
Look! A Good guide for yr EYEs! (This guy knows Tamagotchi!)
      Good Luck! 🧐

So, in addition to my old tamagotchis, I also had an original digimon. I never got as into it as I did my tama, but I haven't been able to found it as I've scrounged around my house during my return to the fandom. Just curious if there are other digivice fans out there among the tamagotchi fandom, and if so, what do you guys consider the best ones? I've seen a lot of people singing praises of the Burst (IG burst?) but it seems those are either only in Japanese or ludicrously expensive.

But yeah, either way, what have I missed in the last 20 years?

Has anyone seen this before? It has a unique shape and oval-shaped buttons with dinosaurs on top.

I found it on Yahoo Japan Auctions.

I'm bidding on a Yahoo Japan auction and I'll probably lose. .3.
      But anyway, here it is.

Besides the Mame Game and Tamagotchis, what are these weird V-pets?

I know the two on the lower right corner are Gyaoppis or something but I'm curious about the pink star, the one that looks like a cookie with a witch or something on the packaging, the purple dino baby, and the gray thing that looks like a pregnancy tester (it doesn't seem like a VPet).

I'm only bidding for the Mame Game and Tamagotchis so if I do win, I'll sell the other pets on FaceBook, and that's why I want to know more about them and how much I could sell them for.
