All For Nothing

Out of all my wishes and dreams,

Happiness was all I hoped to gain

I tried hard to achieve this goal,

But all I ended up with was pain

The only reason I’m breathing,

The only reason I pushed on,

The only reason my heart’s beating,

All my purpose is now gone

All my love was a joke

All my joy was a lie

It was all for nothing

Why did I even try?

I thought things were going fine

I thought the future looked bright

But now the sun has fallen from the sky

And I’m trapped in an eternal night

The stars have all disappeared

There’s nothing to light my way

I’m searching in the darkness

Never to see the light of day

My entire life was like a flower

About to blossom soon

But now that flower has wilted

Never ever to bloom

All the things I worked for

Everything I looked forward to

Has all suddenly vanished

There is nothing I can do

So I will just remain alone

Crying for all that was lost

Until I, too, fade into the darkness

For your choices, my life is the cost…
