Why are the new Tamas so big?

I grew up with the Connections of 2004-2008 which were all a uniform size, as you know. It was perfect in height, and width - to fit in my pocket, to even hold in the palm of my hand and fit in small pockets of my bag.

I want to get the latest Tamas and join in the fun, but they all look twice as big and twice as thick - much harder to keep as a casual addition to my purse.

Anyone have some knowledge or guesses as to why this change was implemented with the latest versions?? Oh like also with the hard buttons?

Does anyone prefer the big tamagotchis? Would also be interested in that.

Mostly because they are more advanced and thus require bigger chips and/or bigger batteries for more power. I find the bigger ones less easy to lose and slightly more durable.

The colored Tamagotchis probably use more circuitry inside to power them, and thus, use bigger batteries. Even though it's not colored, the Tama-Go is unnecessarily huge in my opinion. I'm not really sure why that one had to be so big.
