Whimsical's ON log (first-timer tama log)

Recommended Posts

spacer.png

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum but have admired the tama community from afar both here and on the facebook communities for some time. I thought it would be fun to document my experience with my first modern vpet, I hope you all won't mind! I don't really know too much about tamas, I haven't read the guides so everything is pretty new to me.

I have a modest collection of the retro tamas (two 1st gen and one angelgotchi,) and this christmas was gifted a tamagotchi ON by my partner. It's pretty crazy how much "stuff" there is to do and how good it all looks compared to the tamas from when I was a kid!

I hatched my tama a few days ago, so I'm starting my log from then and filling in as I go along. Sorry if I get names wrong for things. Please feel free to send me tips or let me know if you think I'm missing anything!

So I put the batteries in not really knowing what to expect, it beeped before I could even get the battery plate back on, before I knew it I had an egg about to hatch on the screen!

spacer.png

Eventually my first pet hatched. I wasn't given the option to name it so I'll just call it Bob. Bob is a white blob with two yellow heart-shaped things on it's body (head?)

spacer.png

Bob was pretty high maintenance at first! I kept feeding it and playing with it until it stopped moping around it's living room and started looking happy. At one point it got angry at me after I tried feeding it too much and immediately pooped in the corner. 10/10.

Eventually Bob got sick, I had to cure it two times before it got better. Thankfully curing doesn't appear to cost anything (it didn't in the older tamas either but since currency is apparently now a thing I didn't want to assume that there was universal healthcare in the tama universe). Bob got better and eventually seemed to quieten down.

spacer.png

After a short while Bob evolved into a ballerina marshmallow with a princess leia hairdo and a pink bow. At this point i'm thinking Bob is potentially a girl so Bob is now short for Bobbarina.

Bobbarina is much more chill than her baby stage, to the point that she doesn't need very much at all. I checked out the department store and games (and sucked at them.) I won some money and bought an art canvas.

Now bear in mind this is taking place over the holidays and I have family/friends over so I may have neglected my tama a bit - I still checked up on bob from time to time who eventually went to bed, but I'm not sure if I missed anything because I got into the christmas wine at some point during the evening lmao.

 spacer.png

Feeling like a deadbeat mom I checked in on my tama the next morning and found she had evolved again, this time into a pink duckface blob with wirey hair.

spacer.png

I think she's mad at me for neglecting her for the night which is why she copied the couch's look. Bad influence.

I was determined to make it up to Bob, so I spent some time making sure she was fed with nice food from the restaurant (is there such a thing as good and bad food? Is feeding her nothing but pancakes and rice bad? lol) and playing the dolphin game which is rigged as hell. Eventually I let Bob go outside and was greeted by a purple dog thing that now apparently lives with my tama. I named it sponge.

spacer.png

Sponge and bob (I swear to god that was not intentional) seem very happy and it's cute to see them playing outside.

Bob went to sleep that night with her meters filled and no poop on the ground, so I consider myself redeemed as a parent.

The next day I go to check on Sponge to find we have another dog thing visiting. The game gives me the option to marry it - i'm confused as I didn't know dogs could get married. A few seconds later an egg appears - these little guys get down to it fast apparently.

spacer.png

The egg is replaced by a blue dog that looks like a cross between sponge and his/her friend, although sponge is nowhere to be seen. That was a short-lived companionship! I assume sponge eloped and left me and bob with the baby. Bob doesn't seem too concerned or hasn't noticed. I named the new pet sponge jr.

spacer.png

Not much else has gone on. Stay tuned for the continuing adventures of bob!

Hi Deru-sama and Penguin-keeper, glad you enjoyed!

It's morning so I thought I'd fill you in on some developments from last night.

Bob bleeped at some point, letting me know she was evolving. This kind of surprised me because she'd done nothing all evening except eat and poop, so it made for a nice change.

spacer.png

spacer.png

Bob is now a cotton wool rabbit with pink jewellery and long eyelashes. She also has clothes - I didn't know tamagotchi characters did. I'm sure she'll still poop on the floor, fashion conscious or not.

I was shown this screen - who are these other guys? Bob's parents from the old country? I hope they're not planning on moving in too.

spacer.png

Despite everything, Bob seems upset. I know how she feels, one minute you're a pink blob with a duckface, next thing you know you're a rabbit.

spacer.png

I fed her a rice bowl, that always seems to make her happy.

spacer.png

...but rather than scarfing it down as usual, bob instead floats in the air dramatically while crying.

spacer.png

Pancakes seem to be fine for Bob's apparently more refined palette, which she seems to enjoy so much that she explodes into a ring of hearts and then proceeds to dance on the table.

spacer.png

spacer.png

We go home and check on sponge jr, who has apparently caught the attention of a local crab.

spacer.png

At this point, I know the drill. Sponge jr. has to sow his wild oats, and crab was apparently in the right place at the right time. Bob looks on, unfazed by this miracle of life. Well, at least the baby is cute.

spacer.png

spacer.png

spacer.png

...oh.

spacer.png

Bob seems unconvinced. In fact I'm pretty sure that's the same crab that got lucky with sponge jr. and just decided to move in. Nobody is believing your charade, Mr. Krabs.

Bob finally goes to bed. It has been a confusing day. Growing up isn't easy. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

The day begins with sadness. Bob is overcome with ennui.

spacer.png

spacer.png

Surfing and pancakes do little to lift Bob's mood. She really is a diva.

I decide to try this new-fangled smartphone app thingy, which I eventually manage to download and run (apparently it's not available within my country, thankfully there was a .apk online I could use,) and finally Bob is whizzing her way to the plaza.

Well, this is nice! Very festive. Bobs there, Mr.Krabs is there, even Santa is there!

spacer.png

I'm not really sure what i'm doing here, I check out the other cute characters walking around and play the game where you catch falling stuff. Santa even gave bob some hot cocoa! What a generous guy.

I decide to go to the tamaparty... who doesn't love a party?

spacer.png

Hey, there are dudes here? That's cool I guess. Wait... tamaparty... tama love party??

Is this... speed dating?

spacer.png

Oh my god, santa is getting in on this??

spacer.png

What have I gotten poor innocent bob into? She's only 3 days old!

spacer.png

AHHH NOOO

spacer.png

If bob thinks santa is gonna be her sugar daddy she's got another thing coming. She really is high maintenance. Look at the nice guys she rejected!

The app asks me if I'm ok with the two of them marrying. What would bob's poor parents in the old country think? Not today, santa.

I take bob back out of the app. She seems a lot happier, but perhaps she's wondering about what could have been. Nevermind love, at least you have Mr. Krabs.

Stay tuned for the continuing adventures of bob!

Yeah, I also hope this one lasts, I have spent hours of research on the tamagotchi ON to make sure I do it all right xD. So far your log has been really funny so I can’t wait to hear more about Bob and Sponge Jr.

Thanks MushiShi and Bossalyn! I hope you keep enjoying it!

I've been away in another city for the past few days, but that didn't stop me taking a picture every time my tama did something. My friends at the new year's party "don't get it" and think "tamagotchis should have died with the 90's" but that's why digital pets are better than real friends and I am slowly replacing them. Anyway.

The day began with Mr. Krabs knocking boots with a friendly neighbourhood squirrel, resulting in a blue squirrel that somehow still has sponge's face. I named this new abomination Sally. Bob has clearly had no comprehension of what has been occurring this whole time with these random animals turning up and reproducing in her front yard.

spacer.png

POpuzfp.jpg

At some point for some reason the character at the restaurant that feeds Bob's pancake habit on a daily basis turned up and sucked her into a David Lynch-esque hellworld of carbohydrates.

spacer.png

spacer.png

This turned out to be food town, a place where you can always rely on the sage advise of the local population

spacer.png

Bob has about 2 brain cells to rub together, because later when a random apple car pulled up she did what any sensible young person would do and hopped right in.

spacer.png

spacer.png

This is tama farm, where Bob is forced to work in the fields for no pay. This is what graduate recruiters call an "internship."

spacer.png

Here's a nice random photo of somewhere I went out for a walk on my trip.

spacer.png

Stay tuned for the continuing adventures of Bob!

I regret to inform you that Bob is no more.

I took her back to the tama party. I felt bad that she might have had chemistry with santa, and that I snatched it away from her.

This time however, Bob has a doppelganger, and they were both eyeing up the only cute bachelor available, mr. unicorn.

spacer.png

It was love at first sight for Bob and mr. unicorn. Bob's doppelganger (nega-bob), didn't stand a chance as she was saddled with green cowlick duckface.

spacer.png

Bob wasted no time getting that ring on her finger. It was a match made in heaven.

spacer.png

..and then, the inevitable; bob became a teen mom.

spacer.png

I named the offspring Ding Dong, which apparently retroactively renames the previous generations as well, so may I present the dingdongtchi family.

spacer.png

Bob proved to be an attentive mother to young ding dong, even though mr. unicorn apparently isn't around. Hope he's mailing those cheques.

spacer.png

...and before long, ding dong had grown up into a round onesie-wearing unicorn thing.

spacer.png

Ding dong was clearly as vacant as his mother, with an expression that says "I went out to lunch about 3 weeks ago and still haven't come back." Speaking of not coming back, both Bob and mr. unicorn are apparently done raising ding dong, leaving the task to me.

spacer.png

..however it's not all bad. Ding dong is already making friends with some snowman characters.

 spacer.png

...and while parents may come and go, man's best friend is ever faithful. Sponge, bob's first pet, has returned to become ding dong's companion!

spacer.png

Stay tuned for the continuing adventures of bob ding dong!

I was travelling when ding dong evolved into a teen, and pretty much didn't get any pics of him at that stage except this. I like him, he's a cute pink baby unicorn dude.

spacer.png

spacer.png

...who eventually grew up into a blue unicorn dude wearing his mom's dress.

spacer.png

I decided to spend some of the cash i'd been saving on a cute room upgrade. I thought I might as well go mental with the pastel pink and blue room since ding dong is embracing his feminine side.

spacer.png

However, that creepy japanese new year thing is still there, always watching...

spacer.png

I'm pleased to say that sponge the stud is still up to his old tricks

spacer.png

spacer.png

I can't think of any better name for this orange squirrel thing than conker.

At some point a floating haunted teddybear informed ding dong that toyland was now open!

spacer.png

There ding dong met the lovely pink hat girl. I quite like her. Ding dong may just be taking fashion notes.

spacer.png

Later, ding dong aims to impress with his athletic ability

spacer.png

"ok"

spacer.png

Will ding dong ever perfect his trampoline technique? How long will conker be loyal? And when will the japanese new year thing reveal his diabolical plan? Stay tuned for the continuing adventures of ding dong!

Thank you Leogames2012, I'm slowly learning about the tamagotchi!

Not much to report. Ding dong is green, (fed him a lot of cabbage,) and sally has been replaced by a red fish I call Hootie (this happened while I wasn't looking I guess? I didn't know pets could marry without permission.) Although to be fair I was carrying around my tama in my bag so some buttons may have gotten pressed like that.

spacer.png

I think I may let ding dong try to find a lady love soon.

Edit: also this has been driving me crazy, is it just me or does the music in the tama app sound just like the music box house from majora's mask??

☆ Welcome to my Tama Log! There's no pictures (due to some technical issues), but I hope you can enjoy! ☆
      19th March: App Fun!
I got the Tamagotchi App, it's so much fun! My Tama is only a kid so I couldn't go to the Tama ♥ Party, which is a shame. But I played the Restaurant Game and the Catching Flowers game! I unlocked both backgrounds and the toy rocket.  Apart from that, it's mostly just cleaning My Tama's poop and all that.  Current Stats ☟ Generation: 6 Age: 1 Y/O Evolution Stage: Toddler ✰ Rose ✰

Alright, so I've played the Catching Flowers game on the Tamagotchi App many, many times and have not once gotten 1000+ points to get the rare item. This led me to wonder, is it even possible? I've searched online to see if anyone else has achieved this, and those that have have said that it took them 20+ tries. I decided to try a bit for myself to see how the points add up, and if theres any correlation or if the game is just rigged up until a certain point.

I only played the game 17 times, as it took up to 22 minutes and I had other things I had to do. Anyways, this chart shows my findings for 17 games in a row.
      Points to note:
Out of 17 games, only 2 had 1000+ points available to collect. There is an increase in score from games 1-3 and 10-12. Rocks don't seem to lower the amount of flowers available to catch in the next game. On game 15, the amount of flowers caught don't add up to 590, even though that is the score I received in the end. It seems the game glitched, as I hit a rock and caught a Cherry Blossom flower at the same time. So what does any of this mean?
Most likely, nothing. It seems that scores fluctuate, getting 1000+ points is rare, and the game is ultimately random.
Sadly, this is unfair. The game is 100% chance, which means that some players could NEVER get the rare item. There is a similar case for the other game, Tamagotchi Restaurant. Although this game isn't random, you have to have lightning precision and reflexes. Maybe I'm just a bad player, but I play this game religiously to farm GP and I still haven't gotten 1000+ points yet.
Ultimately I think it would be best if there was an update where the games were more reasonable? Here's what I'm thinking:
      Tamagotchi Restaurant:
Have specific characters ask for specific dishes to make it more predictable and therefore easier to select to rack up 1000+ points. OR
Since the characters loop back around after completing their orders, have them just repeat their orders to make it more predictable. Make all dishes appear from the beginning.
      Catching Flowers:
Always have flowers with a combined total of 1000+ points appear. OR
Have each game's total amount of points increase until 1000+ points are available. I'd say games 1-5 increase in points until game 5 has 1000+ points available. If you hit a rock, the increase in points per game should restart.
Welp, what does everyone else think? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

      Episode 1
Hello again everyone! Some of you may remember seeing me on this site in around 2017 and 2018. I tend to take long breaks from the venerable Tamagotchi, but I do surface every now and then, and now I'm back! I hope you've been well. In my previous logs, I ran a hefty amount of Tamagotchis (usually around 8 or so) but this time I have a smaller roster. I feel that this will make me less likely to "burn out" so early, like I did last time. It will also make this log easier to write, and will give you less baggage to read through. So I think it's a win-win! My ultimate goal for this log is to keep it sustainable and exciting, so I'll also cycle through my active Tamas from time to time and perform various evolution experiments. I hope you enjoy it!

You might have noticed the unusually specific title of this log; that's because I have an underlying goal to obtain ChoHimetchi on my active Version 2! Why ChoHimetchi, of all things? It's actually due to many reasons. Firstly, I haven't had it on a Version 2 since I was a kid, and I always thought it was a cool-looking character worth getting again. But it's also because it seems to be very elusive to me. I tried to get ChoHimetchi multiple times in my previous logs, but my attempts badly backfired (Most of the time, I landed on the right tier but got the more common Mimitchi instead!). As a result, ChoHimetchi seems to have been an ever-present goal that I have always failed to reach. I feel like Wile E. Coyote or the Team Rocket Trio, and I must settle this, once and for all!

As a result, this log will generally theme around my active Version 2 and the quest for ChoHimetchi, but it will also have some other Tamas with their own experiments to keep things varied. At the moment, I am running four units, which I think provides a decent balance. So, without further ado, let's introduce the gang!

Tamagotchi No. 1: Flowery Blue Version 2

This is the Version 2 that will be featured in my quest to get ChoHimetchi. This shell (which I think is supposed to represent an underwater theme) is very nostalgic to me because it originally belonged to my sister back when I got my first Tamagotchi, which was a green Version 2 that I have stored for now. For many years, this blue Tamagotchi was actually disassembled as a source of spare parts, but I restored it back to working condition in 2018 due to nostalgia. While it functions well enough, its speaker does not work and its infrared system is busted, meaning that it cannot connect to others (thank goodness for the Matchmaker!).

This Version 2 was the first one I re-started after my last hiatus; I did so shortly before Christmas so that I would have something to occupy myself with. I have run it non-stop since then, and it is now in its fifth generation. I had tried to get ChoHimetchi all this time but to no success. Currently, it has a 7 year-old Pochitichi named Dale, who just had a male baby this afternoon. Since ChoHimetchi is only obtainable on even generations, Dale's baby will be my only possible attempt for a couple of weeks.

In order to obtain ChoHimetchi, I must give the baby perfect care (especially in the Teenager stage) since the character is on the topmost tier on even generations. Then, when it evolves into an adult, I must blindly hope that ChoHimetchi is randomly chosen out of the three characters in the top tier. It can be a frustrating process! For my last two attempts (in the second and fourth generation, respectively), I tried to land on the top tier but instead got the middle tier due to accidental neglect. In fact, I actually got Dorotchi both times! So I'd better be very vigilant this time.

Tamagotchi No. 2: Ice Blue Version 4

Two of the other Tamas I am running at the moment are Version 4s. The main reason for this is due to an ongoing research project on the Version 4's growth chart, conducted by Maria&Co. and tamaninjacat. See the thread here:

I was very impressed by the headway they made in the research, so I decided to help them! This snowy blue Version 4 (which I have featured in my previous logs) is thus mostly being used to test theories that are being established in that thread.

Currently, this shell has a first-generation Harutchi named Mewtwo, whom I am using to test Child/Teenager evolution patterns. Today, I meant to give him two care mistakes through the Child stage (though instead I accidentally gave him three), and I will see whether this makes him a Mame family teen or a Meme one. It is generally established that Harutchi becomes either a Mame or Meme teen depending on the amount of care, but it is still unknown what exact numbers of care mistakes make what. There are similar mysteries with the Meme and Kuchi families as well, so I aim to help solve these questions in the future!

Tamagotchi No. 3: Sea Blue Version 4

This is the second Version 4 that I'm using for the evolution research project. While I started the other one from a clean slate, I decided to continue this one from where it left off to investigate the prominence of "family genes" in the Version 4. It turned out that the character was a 7 year-old Masktchi named Gina, who was actually all the way back from my first log. She became a Masktchi mostly because I accidentally left her unpaused when away, which led her getting neglected for a day. However, I found this useful for the research because it allows me to test how the Universal family affects "genes" in the Version 4.

Shortly after I had Gina running again, she got a Matchmaker visit and had a baby. Her partner was a Tosakatchi, so I will see if that partner brings Meme genes to the baby in the future. Once Gina leaves, I will experiment with the baby, just like Mewtwo, and report results.

Tamagotchi No. 4: Rainbow Version 4

Yes, my final Tamagotchi is yet another Version 4, but it is not being used for evolution research. Instead, it is for another purpose that I have continued on-and-off since my first log.

The Otokitchi in this shell is named Valma. She is currently aged 30 (in Tama-years of course), and I aim to get her over 90 years before breeding her with an Ojitchi. This, in theory, should make her one of the oldest parents of all time (though I doubt it will break the best record - someone has probably had an Ojitichi or Otokitchi breed over the age of 100). Nonetheless, it would still be a good achievement. While I can technically wait until she is well past 100, I do pause her regularly, so I will be unable to record her age after the two-digit counter fills up.

Valma is very easy to care for, though I do give her high priority to make sure she does not have a care mistake. In the Connection series, if a Senior takes care mistakes, they become more and more needy until they die. As a result, I must make sure that Valma does not take any care mistakes during her long run. If care mistakes are avoided entirely, Valma can theoretically live forever. There have been a few times when people have gotten Ojitchi or Otokitchi to live for hundreds of Tama-years!

Due to her age, Valma has an incredible amount of Intelligence points (I usually play Shape when playing on a Version 4). She'd make a Tensaitchi jealous!

Well, that's all the updates for now. Here are the stats of my four active Tamagotchi:
