Hohotchi's Hatchlings, Season 2: The ChoHimetchi Quest

Episode 1

Hello again everyone! Some of you may remember seeing me on this site in around 2017 and 2018. I tend to take long breaks from the venerable Tamagotchi, but I do surface every now and then, and now I'm back! I hope you've been well. In my previous logs, I ran a hefty amount of Tamagotchis (usually around 8 or so) but this time I have a smaller roster. I feel that this will make me less likely to "burn out" so early, like I did last time. It will also make this log easier to write, and will give you less baggage to read through. So I think it's a win-win! My ultimate goal for this log is to keep it sustainable and exciting, so I'll also cycle through my active Tamas from time to time and perform various evolution experiments. I hope you enjoy it!

You might have noticed the unusually specific title of this log; that's because I have an underlying goal to obtain ChoHimetchi on my active Version 2! Why ChoHimetchi, of all things? It's actually due to many reasons. Firstly, I haven't had it on a Version 2 since I was a kid, and I always thought it was a cool-looking character worth getting again. But it's also because it seems to be very elusive to me. I tried to get ChoHimetchi multiple times in my previous logs, but my attempts badly backfired (Most of the time, I landed on the right tier but got the more common Mimitchi instead!). As a result, ChoHimetchi seems to have been an ever-present goal that I have always failed to reach. I feel like Wile E. Coyote or the Team Rocket Trio, and I must settle this, once and for all!

As a result, this log will generally theme around my active Version 2 and the quest for ChoHimetchi, but it will also have some other Tamas with their own experiments to keep things varied. At the moment, I am running four units, which I think provides a decent balance. So, without further ado, let's introduce the gang!

Tamagotchi No. 1: Flowery Blue Version 2

spacer.png

This is the Version 2 that will be featured in my quest to get ChoHimetchi. This shell (which I think is supposed to represent an underwater theme) is very nostalgic to me because it originally belonged to my sister back when I got my first Tamagotchi, which was a green Version 2 that I have stored for now. For many years, this blue Tamagotchi was actually disassembled as a source of spare parts, but I restored it back to working condition in 2018 due to nostalgia. While it functions well enough, its speaker does not work and its infrared system is busted, meaning that it cannot connect to others (thank goodness for the Matchmaker!).

This Version 2 was the first one I re-started after my last hiatus; I did so shortly before Christmas so that I would have something to occupy myself with. I have run it non-stop since then, and it is now in its fifth generation. I had tried to get ChoHimetchi all this time but to no success. Currently, it has a 7 year-old Pochitichi named Dale, who just had a male baby this afternoon. Since ChoHimetchi is only obtainable on even generations, Dale's baby will be my only possible attempt for a couple of weeks.

In order to obtain ChoHimetchi, I must give the baby perfect care (especially in the Teenager stage) since the character is on the topmost tier on even generations. Then, when it evolves into an adult, I must blindly hope that ChoHimetchi is randomly chosen out of the three characters in the top tier. It can be a frustrating process! For my last two attempts (in the second and fourth generation, respectively), I tried to land on the top tier but instead got the middle tier due to accidental neglect. In fact, I actually got Dorotchi both times! So I'd better be very vigilant this time.

Tamagotchi No. 2: Ice Blue Version 4

spacer.png

Two of the other Tamas I am running at the moment are Version 4s. The main reason for this is due to an ongoing research project on the Version 4's growth chart, conducted by Maria&Co. and tamaninjacat. See the thread here:

I was very impressed by the headway they made in the research, so I decided to help them! This snowy blue Version 4 (which I have featured in my previous logs) is thus mostly being used to test theories that are being established in that thread.

Currently, this shell has a first-generation Harutchi named Mewtwo, whom I am using to test Child/Teenager evolution patterns. Today, I meant to give him two care mistakes through the Child stage (though instead I accidentally gave him three), and I will see whether this makes him a Mame family teen or a Meme one. It is generally established that Harutchi becomes either a Mame or Meme teen depending on the amount of care, but it is still unknown what exact numbers of care mistakes make what. There are similar mysteries with the Meme and Kuchi families as well, so I aim to help solve these questions in the future!

Tamagotchi No. 3: Sea Blue Version 4

spacer.png

This is the second Version 4 that I'm using for the evolution research project. While I started the other one from a clean slate, I decided to continue this one from where it left off to investigate the prominence of "family genes" in the Version 4. It turned out that the character was a 7 year-old Masktchi named Gina, who was actually all the way back from my first log. She became a Masktchi mostly because I accidentally left her unpaused when away, which led her getting neglected for a day. However, I found this useful for the research because it allows me to test how the Universal family affects "genes" in the Version 4.

Shortly after I had Gina running again, she got a Matchmaker visit and had a baby. Her partner was a Tosakatchi, so I will see if that partner brings Meme genes to the baby in the future. Once Gina leaves, I will experiment with the baby, just like Mewtwo, and report results.

Tamagotchi No. 4: Rainbow Version 4

spacer.png

Yes, my final Tamagotchi is yet another Version 4, but it is not being used for evolution research. Instead, it is for another purpose that I have continued on-and-off since my first log.

The Otokitchi in this shell is named Valma. She is currently aged 30 (in Tama-years of course), and I aim to get her over 90 years before breeding her with an Ojitchi. This, in theory, should make her one of the oldest parents of all time (though I doubt it will break the best record - someone has probably had an Ojitichi or Otokitchi breed over the age of 100). Nonetheless, it would still be a good achievement. While I can technically wait until she is well past 100, I do pause her regularly, so I will be unable to record her age after the two-digit counter fills up.

Valma is very easy to care for, though I do give her high priority to make sure she does not have a care mistake. In the Connection series, if a Senior takes care mistakes, they become more and more needy until they die. As a result, I must make sure that Valma does not take any care mistakes during her long run. If care mistakes are avoided entirely, Valma can theoretically live forever. There have been a few times when people have gotten Ojitchi or Otokitchi to live for hundreds of Tama-years!

Due to her age, Valma has an incredible amount of Intelligence points (I usually play Shape when playing on a Version 4). She'd make a Tensaitchi jealous!

Episode 2

Hi again! I have a fair bit of news to share, so it's time for me to post it here!

Firstly, I'll report on the Version 2 and my ongoing ChoHimetchi quest. Dale the Pochitchi (who had a son just before I wrote the first episode) left a couple of days later and I named the baby Syd. That day, I felt pretty tired and just watched a lot of YouTube videos, so I gave somewhat sloppy care to him in the baby stage. This showed because he became a Marutchi, which is generally considered the worst-care Child character!

spacer.png

I was a little relieved, though, since I generally get Hitodetchi and Kuribotchi on my Version 2s for some reason. At least it was a nice break! From then on, I took better care, as I had the ChoHimetchi goal after all. While browsing online, I stumbled across this interesting growth chart from Tama-Zone (Link: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/tamazone/tamagotchi-connection-version-2-growth-chart-t15081.html)

This rather old chart was interesting because it showed that not every adult character could be obtained from any one Teenage character (and the same with Child-Teenager evolution). I had a few theories about this aspect myself in my past logs, so I decided to carefully analyse my evolutions and see if they line up with this chart. Interestingly, the chart showed that Marutchi could only become either of the bad-care teens on even generations, so I gave Syd perfect care to test it out. The next day, he evolved into Propellertchi:

spacer.png

This certainly corroborates with the chart, so it may have had some truth after all! However, it will need more testing before I can mark it as truly accurate.

At the moment, Syd is three years old, so he'll become an Adult tomorrow. I have given him as perfect care as possible (with full 9 bars of Training) but I am unsure if I missed some of his discipline calls due to the dead speaker. I recently heard that the Version 2 might possibly count missed Training calls as care mistakes; if that's true, I might have actually missed the top tier entirely! Well, I'll have to see for myself tomorrow morning. Another thing to consider is from the Tama-Zone chart. Apparently, Propellertchi can only evolve into two of the three top-tier adults, which are Mimitchi and ChoHimetchi. If that's the case, I theoretically have a 50% chance to obtain ChoHimetchi if it lands in the top tier. It will be another opportunity for me to test the chart's accuracy! Nonetheless, I'm excited for what comes tomorrow.

There have also been developments on my two Version 4s that I'm using for evolution testing with Maria&Co. and tamaninjacat. My first test subject, Mewtwo (on the snowy Version 4) has made an interesting contribution. As I said last episode, Mewtwo evolved into a Harutchi for the Child stage and I gave him two care mistakes to help discover the threshold between Young Mametchi and Young Androtchi. It is generally believed that Young Mametchi is only obtained with very good care, so I was surprised when he became that character upon evolution!

spacer.png

This makes me think that Young Mametchi isn't actually as difficult to obtain as I thought, which was corroborated by other tests by Maria&Co. who obtained a Young Mametchi with four care misses! On the other hand, Young Mimitchi (generally referred to as Young Mametchi's female counterpart in this version) seems to be much harder to obtain for some reason. The more you know! Currently, Mewtwo is in the Adult stage (a Mametchi) and I'll wait for him to breed so I can do another test for the research.

spacer.png

This leads me to my other Version 4. Shortly after the last episode, Gina the Masktchi left her daughter, who I named Amber.

spacer.pngspacer.png

During the baby stage, I cared for her the same way as Mewtwo, but she became a Puchitchi instead of Harutchi. Whilst her direct parent was in the Universal family, I believe she got genes from Gina's Matchmaker partner, who was a Tosakatchi (Meme family). This may indicate that Baby>Child evolutions are not only influenced genetically but can also be influenced by the secondary partner, especially if the parent is Universal. I'll have to test that again later.

Maria&Co.'s research on Puchitchi indicated that it generally becomes a Mame Teen (Ringotchi or Young Androtchi) with very good care, but otherwise becomes a Meme Teen with lesser care. However, like with Harutchi, the exact threshold has not yet been found, so I decided to give Amber one care mistake and see where that takes her. Interestingly, she evolved into a Young Memetchi:

spacer.png

This leads me to come up with two theories; either Puchitchi only becomes a Mame Teen with almost perfect care (0 care mistakes) or that Child>Teen evolution is a little random, especially at certain care levels. Like my previous results, I'll also have to test this again to have more solid information on this.

Amber took Mr. Turtlepedia's class at school, so her high Intelligence points will have her become a Ponytchi tomorrow (she is now aged 2). I think I will marry her to Mewtwo and see where the Mame/Meme parent equation takes their children. The two of them are already good friends over connection, so a marriage will be quite easy when they're old enough.

spacer.png

Valma has now reached 34 Tama-years of age and is still doing very well. I have given her very good care as always, though she has gotten the occasional bad letter which temporarily put her happy hearts down to 1 (I fix these very quickly though). Nonetheless, these "care slips" (as I call them; not quite a care mistake) don't seem to affect her temperament. Ii seems that things only go downhill if she gets a proper care mistake, which is good. For now, she is as tough as a tank as she can go for a couple of hours without any hearts dropping. Most of the time, she is my least demanding Tama to care for! Only about 60 more Tama-years of this to go...

Episode 2: Extra Content

Hi all! I was surprised to find that Syd evolved a few minutes before his bedtime! Very impatient to grow up, perhaps?

It turned out that I did miss the top tier - he evolved into a Toratchi, which is on the second tier. So it seems that I might have indeed missed some discipline calls which may have counted as care mistakes (either that or the Version 2 chucked a random :D). But regardless, I'm quite happy at the result because I don't get Toratchi very often and I think it's a pretty cool character. So while it's a loss, it's at least not a bad one. Besides, wouldn't it be a little anticlimactic for me to achieve my ultimate goal so early in this log? :P

Interestingly, according to the chart from Tama-Zone, Propellertchi can't evolve into Toratchi, so my result basically blows the chart's validity out of the water. But I might do more tests with it to see if it is correct in some aspects. After all,  most secondary sources do have some truth to them, even if they have underlying errors.

The missed discipline calls do make me wonder whether the disconnected speaker will be a thorn in my side for generations to come. Perhaps it's time to fix this once and for all and learn some light welding... ;)

Hello everyone  My name is KuchipatchiPod or you can say Pod for short. I am new here but saw the log forum and decided to give it a try
I've mentioned in other threads, but recently my father delivered to me my original 97 P1 Tamagotchi that I played with as a young tween. I decided to get some batteries for it, and while I was at it, grab a Japanese OG P1 so I could try to get Oyajitchi. I'd always been interested in collecting Tamagotchis, and my friend sent me a link to where you can buy the new Digimon ver20th vpets. I had to grab one. Then you know how online shopping goes... you get a little carried away sometimes. I had just received a Twitch payout and decided to blow it all on Tamas and Digis. I grabbed up six Digimon total (one of each variation, and then a sixth so I could ge thte "connect to 5 unique devices" mons... )
After playing with my new Tamas and Digis for a bit, I decided I wanted some "fresh" Tamas, as my OG ones have seen better days. So I ordered a rerelease P1 and P2... Definitely going to stop for now because I'm quickly depleting the little bit I have in my bank account...
At first it was just the two Tamas and a yellow Digivice. But then my purple one came in (for some reason the other 5 got shipped in two different packages despite buying them all together) early in the morning, so I decided to open it and play with it, even though it's the same "variation" as the yellow one. But I was eager to start another Digimon. Then the others came in later in the day. I was feeling obsessive and wanted to try out some of the other ones, too. Since the black and white ones have forms that can Jogress with each other, I decided to open BOTH of those. Bringing me to a whopping total of 6 active pets.
      So let's meet the crew...

I named each device (I'm not going to name each individual monster/creature). In the Digimon, you actually get to type in the names, so I was limited to 4 characters, but with the Tamagotchis you don't enter a name, so I just refer to them by the names I gave them.
Tyson is the translucent blue Tamagotchi shell. He's my OG P1 from when I was a kid. I started him on the 19th after learning I could take him apart and clean him out (thanks to the members here!) Takao is the all-white Tamagotchi shell. He's the OG JP P1 that I ordered from eBay. I started him on the 20th when I got him in the mail. Kudos to you if you get the naming theme of the two Tamas. THAO is the translucent yellow Digivice. It's the first one I received when I thought I was only buying one of them. I started it on the 19th when I first got it in the mail after trying to get Tyson to hatch before learning I could clean him out, so THAO has been the longest-running pet so far. META is the translucent purple Digivice. It's the second one I received and started early in the morning of the 21st because I was eager to start another Digivice. POD is the black Digivice with white buttons. It was the third Digimon to get started, after I got my shipment of the rest of the Digivices that I had ordered on the 21st. TRAN is the white Digivice with black buttons. It is the most recently started one; I waited til the Baby stage of POD was finished before starting it so I wouldn't get too overwhelmed. I decided to take a photo of each evolution I get in the P1s, so I can have photographic evidence that I got each 'gotchi. My goal is to see all twelve forms!
My memory is kind of bad so I think the timeline here is a bit off, but I'm trying to make it as accurate as possible as to the last three days.
      MAY 19th - THE BEGINNING
The 19th was easy as I was only caring for the THAO for the first part of the day, enjoying my first little Koromon. Later in the evening, after learning I could clean out my Tama, I started raising the newly-revived Tyson. Babytchi is so needy! Koromon hardly needed any care, so I was focused completely on Babytchi. It was getting pretty late, so when Babytchi went to sleep, I thought it was done for the night. I sat it aside and got online to watch some Twitch. Then a bit later I heard him crying out! To my surprise, there were four poops and a sick Babytchi waiting for me. I nursed the poor little guy back to health, and that's how I re-learned that Babychi takes a nap shortly after hatching instead of going to sleep for the night.
Finally, Tyson evolved into Marutchi! Then I was wondering why it was not falling asleep for the night, as it was after 10PM. I checked his clock and realized I had mixed up the AM/PM. Oops! I fixed it and Tyson fell right to sleep.
      MAY 20th - TAMAGOTCHI DAY
The 20th was an exciting day because my Japanese Tama was set to arrive in the mail! I anxious awaited its arrival while keeping an eye on THAO and Tyson. It was pretty easy as Marutchi is not nearly as needy as Babytchi, and I was having fun checking on THAO every now and then because I was still feeling quite obsessive and not wanting to do much else.
Takao finally came in the mail in the early afternoon. Sadly, I was not able to get his battery compartment open because the screws are stuck! But the existing batteries, despite being 25 years old, seemed to work when I pulled the tab out, so I gave him a reset and started to care for him. Another needy Babytchi... The screen would fade in and out sometimes shortly after pulling the tab, but since then it seems to be running fine. Eventually, Takao evolved to Marutchi as well and it was easier to keep track of them.
I decided to try an experiment, since Tyson's buttons are particularly hard to press. I would raise Tyson's happiness only by feeding candy, and Takao's happiness only by playing games. Let's see how they evolve!
THAO's Koromon evolved to Agumon and I was able to start another egg! I picked the horizontal stripey one because I knew it could evolve into Kunemon eventually, which is my favorite Digimon. I had to be careful to neglect Tokomon just the right amount to get three care mistakes. I didn't want to hurt the poor thing any more than that. Once I got the mistakes, I took good care of him well.
      MAY 21st - DIGIMON DAY
Normally I wake up around 10-11AM, but on this day, Tokomon decided to cry at 730AM! I can't believe the Digimon wake up so early! Thankfully, the cry did not wake up my husband, who is a pretty deep sleeper. I waited 10 minutes to get my final care mistake I needed, and then started taking good care of Tokomon. Later in the day, he evolved into a beautiful Kunemon.
Earlier in the afternoon, my package arrived with META, my purple Digivice. I was originally going to put this one away and just play with one of the Black or White ones when they came in, for a total of two Digimon. But while waiting for my package to come with the rest of my Digimon, I got so anxious to play that I ended up opening up the purple one anyway. I neglected Koromon just enough to get him to evolve into Betamon (so I could have two different mons).
Later in the afternoon, my other package came in with the rest of my Digimon. I still wanted to have a type A or B digivice running, so I decided to open POD. Hubs was taking a nap, so I decided to stay in the guest bedroom and take care of my pets while playing phone games. This way the sound wouldn't bother him while he slept. Without much else to do, I was checking my pets constantly, and felt like there wasn't enough to do with the pets. So I decided to open TRAN. Maybe I was making a big mistake, running so many pets at once...
I was having so much fun with my pets, but the buttons on Tyson and Takao were kind of hard to press, making me have to exert my thumb more than I would like. So I decided... why not get even more pets? So I ordered a P1 and P2 rerelease to be delivered on the 23rd...
MAY 22nd - THE FIRST FULL DAY OF 6 PETS
And that catches us up to today  Outside of getting the Child/Rookie stages of the Digimon I wanted (since I really wanted Betamon and Kunemon), I'm trying not to use any guides or help. I did look at a P1 growth chart to make a checklist of all the forms you can possibly get on the P1. I'll try to update if anything major happens from here on out.

Hello everyone! I decided to share with you about this game I just recently installed on my phone like a few weeks ago (or maybe a month ago? I’m not sure), it’s called Dunpets! As you can see, I’m crazy about virtual pets and any kind of them! I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one here. I hope it's okay to post about a virtual pet that's not a Tamagotchi... I'll be logging about them soon too!
After watching Jaiden Animation’s videos about virtual pets and the Pokemon Nuzlocke run, I kinda wanted to play Pokemon too. But seemingly I was getting buried in a pile of assignments, I didn’t think getting into Pokemon again was a good idea. Then I thought about looking for a game that isn't actually Pokemon but is similar… Thus, I stumbled upon Dunpets! It was the combination of what I wanted and needed: taking care of a virtual pet and BATTLING. I was very excited.
But in the game itself there wasn’t really much to do. I hadn’t really explored all options yet. And as my assignments were piling up and the semester was getting difficult, I paused the game (which only told me I can do so once in my entire life). And now, it’s semester break and I felt like wanting to explore the game again so I finally resumed the game.

Hello everyone! I finally figured out how to upload pictures (this thread was originally asking about that-) I'm new here and the first thing I want to do is to create a tama log! Upon seeing other people's log, I enjoy them very much and feel so inspired to do my own!
I made this little journal noting the progress of the bootleg 168 in 1 virtual pet that I have accidentally adopted and dearly named Tom! Of course, this was an old log. I previously posted these on Reddit and on the Tamagotchi FB group (he’s quite well-loved by a lot of people there too!). So I decided to post about Tom on Tamatalk because I think people here might like to read about Tom and his saga
This log first started as a joke but later on (and even till this day) I had actually grown a deep attachment to this special bootleg virtual pet named Tom.
Anyway, enough of the intro- Now I present to you, The Tom Saga: The Misadventures of a 168 in 1 Virtual Pet!

      INTRODUCTION
hello, my name is deerboy and after a several decade-long break i have finally gotten back into tamagotchi.
i no longer have my original tamagotchi (perhaps i'll make a new thread when/if i find it), but i recently - literally just today - got a turquoise tamagotchi on.  turquoise isn't my favorite color, but that was the color Target had on sale so thats the one i got.
      CHAPTER 001
my daughter, a beautiful bouncing LOVEKOTCHI, hatched around 5:30PM my time (AM in her time, because I am somewhat nocturnal lol) today.  she immediately developed a case of discontented anime facial lines, and because i chose not to read the directions, i struggled for a while to figure out how to clear them up.  fortunately tamas are easy to please, so after enough feeding, playing and photography, they cleared up and i knew how to keep them at bay going forward.
shortly after hatching she turned into a fluffy CUTEHEARTCHI.  it was a good thing i took baby pictures, since they grow up so fast... however, now that she presumably has legs somewhere underneath all that fluff, its time for her to use them.  after a trip to the in-device shop i realized that we didn't have very much GP and i figured it was time that she take responsibility and get a real job.  its a good thing there are ample employment opportunities for children in the tamagotchi world, and i'm happy to report that she's a natural when it comes to picking up flowers in the in-app park and flipping pancakes in the restaurant.
as of this writing, she has obtained: 2300GP, 2x FRUITS, CREAM SODA, CHICK HAT, RIBBON, CAT EARS, WIG & GLASSES and BUNNY EARS.  not bad for someone whose 5 hours old!

Hi! This is a first for me, doing any type of game log. My name is Dame, and I played Tamagotchis when they originally came out, but never that much. I now am busying myself with my Magic Blue Tamagotchi On.
      Currently:
      Hoshipontchi ♂ (First in run)
      Other things to note:
I am nocturnal, so I have set my Tamagotchi time to be 13 hours ahead of my time. I am using the Tamagotchi On app everyday. I am looking up some information, but not much. I am not planning on getting any certain Tama or anything off the bat. I am fine with being offered tips or advice! I am looking for people to friend on the app who are active.
