No Toolbar?

I have recently gotten a P1 tamagotchi, but there is no toolbar! I’ve seen pictures with the action-buttons on the bottom and top but mine seems to have those missing. I’m not sure if I just need to press a few buttons to access them, or if there is just a mistake in my tamagotchi. When I tap the A button, sometimes a the feeding options pop up while at other times the on and off screen comes on. I’m really new with these, any help would be appreciated! I’ve tried to search directions but can’t seem to find any. Thanks!

From your description of context-sensitive A-button behaviour, it sounds like you have a Tamagotchi Mini, or a 20th Anniversary Tamagotchi Mini, rather than a Gen 1 ("P1") Tamagotchi.

I agree with @mimitchi ^o^ that a photograph would help us to determine what's going on.
