The Adventures of Dumdum & Tamas (but mostly tamas)

Recommended Posts

Welp, I'm back. It's been many years since I joined Tamatalk (under a different name) and several since I last visited. Aside from a brief stint with a Tamagotchi Gudetama, I haven't been a tama mama in quite some time, but I recently received a Magic Tamagotchi On as a gift and I've been having a lot of fun with it. I especially love the large variety of tamas and the excitement of waiting to see what they look like as they grow. Evolution happens so quickly with the Tamagotchi On,  I thought keeping a log would be a great way to remember all of my babies.

I got my Tama-On June 25th and I'm now on generation 3. I have just a few photos from the first two generations so as soon as I remember how to post photos properly, I'll do a single post for each generation and go from there. Yay!

June 25
HA! Finally got a Tamagotchi On! I couldn't justify the $60 before now but I wanted something fun and unnecessary for my birthday and I noticed they were getting harder to find at my local stores.

Luckily, a Target in a town not too far away had the one I wanted:
YGEQHqb.jpg

I started it up and got a girl:

June 26
I woke up to a nice surprise:
1CErz4M.jpg

Since it was my birthday, I was a bit busy and didn't interact with her too much other than making sure she had everything she needed. I can't remember if she evolved again later that day or the next...

June 27-28
A couple evolutions, first:
gy5yYKC.jpg

Her final form was Lovelitchi and I wasted no time getting her onto the app to find a husband. The first guy she proposed to said yes!

Also, somewhere along the way (and before I even looked it up to figure it all out) she ended up with a pet Doyakentchi. That was cool.

Second Generation

Lovelitchi and her octo-hubby had a boy. I wasn't sure if it was a boy or a girl at first and I wasn't sure how naming worked (I didn't know it would add -tchi to the end of the name) so I went with the first name that popped into my head and ended up with Soratchi.

I looked up a tama pet guide and lured a Chapitchi to the yard:
D3sslbL.jpg

At some point, a Doyakentchi wandered into the yard, married the Chapitchi, and I ended up with this monstrosity:
4hYexbC.jpg

I only have one picture of Soratchi as a teenager and it makes me laugh:
R0zgVaw.jpg

Soratchi became an adult and I accidentally changed his color from pink to orange while trying to unlock a new location, but I was happy with the change. I decided to have him hang out in the app a bit to see if anyone was interested in proposing, but not before putting on his best accessory. He got two proposals:
5M75fIA.jpg
It's a longshot, I'm sure, but if either of these happens to be your tama, I'd love to see their babies!

I thought about keeping Soratchi a while longer, but I found a cute octo-girl and had to propose. Luckily, she said yes!

Third Generation

That brings us to today! Soratchi and his octo-wifey had a boy, and his name is Marintchi. I was hoping he would get his mother's head rather than his father's, but so far he looks exactly like a young Soratchi, except he's a pale yellow instead of white. Maybe there's still a chance it'll change as he evolves?

Here he is an hour or so ago with his pet Makimotchi:

Right now, we're in the app playing Catching Fruit. I was going to get the trumpet and stop, but the next prize is a fun room and we must have it!

Oops, got his name wrong. I'm a bad mom.

So, I did three dumdum things. In order from least dum to most dum: I made an instagram specifically for my tamagotchis and considering I am in my 30s it feels a little weird but also I kind of love it? I ordered a Fairy Tamagotchi On from Amazon even though I had to talk myself into paying $50 for the Magical On in the first place. Lastly, and on that same note but even more extreme, I ordered a Sanrio Meets from Japan You Want. So it only took a week for me to go from "The Tamagotchi On looks cool but is too expensive" to "GIMME ALL THE TAMAS AND ALSO LET ME MAKE A GOTCHIGRAM". I got sucked into Tamagotchi collecting back in the mid 2000s, so I'm not entirely surprised, but it's all happening so fast. I've never imported a Japanese tama though so I'm pretty excited about my first one!

Anyway, back to Marintchi. Today (or, technically yesterday now), he became a teenager.
jiZZQSJ.jpg CkBNDaa.jpg
While I think he is stupid adorable, I'm a little bummed because he looks just like a teenage Soratchi (his dad), except a different color (light pink instead of light blue). Since I'm still very new to the Tama-On, I'm not sure if I should continue to hold out hope that he'll look more like his mother when he becomes an adult. Probably not!

Immediately after his evolution, I decided to check on Makimotchi and sure enough, there was a creepy Doyakentchi lurking in the shadows, waiting to have a creep-faced baby with an adorable pet. I'm not one to stand in the way of true love, no matter how nightmare-inducing it may be, but...
ldx7DoZ.jpg 36buW6J.jpg
Why, Doyakentchi? Whyyyyyyyy?!?!?!?!

You can still hold out hope hahah. The teenage tamas can do complete 180s. I've seen the adult come out with a different color, different head and even lose things like wings or a cape.

Oooh, that is excellent news, thank you! The Lovelitchi ears are cute but everyone so far has had them and I want to see something else. My hope is still alive!

I can attest to what @Berks says, here; One time I had a very ordinary Tamagotchi called Blobtchi, who, upon reaching adulthood, suddenly had no defining traits at all - he was quite a shock to look at!

omg that was truly the perfect name for him

Marintchi's creep-faced Makimotchi had a baby with a super cute Harapparatchi and of course it has a creep face too.

Maybe someday I will have the patience to wait for a tama pet other than Doyakentchi to show up.

Much to my dismay, Marintchi's adult form is exactly the same as his father's, even down to the color (his dad was only orange because I changed his color myself). Ugh, he's still adorable though, dang it. I gave him a pan and he got super excited about it. Oh yeah, and I changed his room. I don't really like it and will definitely change it soon.
hTgsFLY.jpg r31Bhor.jpg

Since I'm pretty much over his Marintchi's look, I had him put on his Sunday best and we headed straight to the app to see if any ladies wanted to get married. He got 5 proposals, it was quite the confidence booster. So he tried proposing to some ladies who were a bit out of his league and was rejected each time. Poor guy.
Gns6Xog.jpgLqW8PqY.jpg

Just as I was about to exit the app and head to bed, Marintchi received a 6th proposal and I decided to go all the way. I had to stay up an extra hour but it was worth it. Probably.
vuWJUaB.jpg S4GIz8o.jpg

Marintchi and his ninja wife had a girl. Will she look just like her dad and grandpa? If not, will the Lovelitchi ears finally drop off too? I'll introduce her in my next post and we'll soon find out!

Generation 4

I wasn't sure what to name this girl, so I asked Boyfriend for suggestions and he said I should name him after someone from Terrace House. The first girl that came to mind (perhaps unsurprisingly) was Hana Kimura. I really loved watching Hana on Terrace House and was extremely sad to hear of her death. So I went with Hanatchi. It'll also be the perfect name if she ends up with flowers on her head like her mother. I haven't had a girl since the first generation and forgot how cute they are as babies.
Nvl4pOZ.jpg

Of course, Marintchi hung around for a while. They played together a bit.
viEBGnO.jpg

When it was time for Marintchi to leave, Hanatchi was beyond shocked.
fLquOai.jpg

I cheered her up by buying her a new room.
wv9QeXd.jpg

I'm not feeling very well, so today has been fairly uneventful. Since she was born so late last night, I expect Hanatchi to become a teen tomorrow morning. I'm excited to see how it goes. Fingers crossed that those ears will go away!

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention I found the person who raised Hanatchi's grandma on Instagram last night! It happened completely by accident. I thought that was pretty cool.

Hanatchi's teen form is super cute. I love her wings.

Not a whole lot to report today. Hanatchi did check out the festival in Magic Land though. She had a great time on the roller coaster.

The music that plays during the coaster ride is amazing. While I was watching it happen, I totally expected her to make the face she made once the coaster dropped, but the music was quite the surprise. I made her ride the coaster twice more just so I could hear it.

Hello, hello, I'm a long time fan of tamagotchi but a new member to tamatalk!
I decided to start a log for the lavender Wonder Garden tamagotchi I just got, which was one part a nostalgia purchase and another part mental health purchase. As silly as it sounds, tamagotchis helped me through depression  and anxiety as a kid. They're very much security blankets to me.
However this log won't really record my mental health, just the tamagotchi so don't worry about that.

Forgive my phone's crummy camera, but I got a baby girl! I've always been more partial to female tamas personally!
Also yes, that is my personal art! I find tamagotchi's simple designs lend well to being good warm up sketches so expect seeing some doodles my tamas now and then.

So this morning my Hashizoutchi died at 18 years old.

It was the longest that I've managed to keep a Tamagotchi ever as far as I can remember. It was on the Tamagotchi Game Boy game, on which I'm playing what I decided to label the "PoorBoy's Tamagotchi". The rules are that you can only take care of your Tamagotchi if the in-game clock matches your real-life clock. I've made a post about it here:
      https://www.tamatalk.com/IB/topic/199133-how-to-make-tamagotchi-for-game-boy-more-like-a-real-tamagotchi/

Upon its death I was labeled a genius by some stranger aliens who took Venus to their home planet.

Apparently they have the ability to revive dead Tamagotchi so Venus was revived and made an Honorary Member of... something lol. They dressed him up weidly and that's last time I saw him.

So as promised, here is my log (@Penguin-keeper) . I'll be covering mostly the 3 Tamagotchi games on Game Boy. I'll be trying to get every character in every game, which I'm sure will keep me occupied for a long time. I'll also mix in some Android virtual pet apps so that the log will hopefully remain fresh and interesting.
I'm starting with Tamagotchi 1 on GB, since for the time being it's my favourite of the 3 Game Boy games.

As you can see I've already picked 4 of the eggs, with Venus being the 4th. It's time to hatch that green one which I'll be naming Gaia (I'm uninspiringly naming them after planets, before Venus was Mercury). I wonder what happens when you hatch all the eggs and the last one dies, there has to be a cinematic or something, we'll see.

So here is Gaia. Since I've been raising Tamagotchis since a very long time and know all the rules, I'm adding myself a new rule to spice things up: for this run, I'm not allowed to check Gaia's stats apart from its age and weight. In real life, your pet or kid doesn't have a hungry and happy meter, you have to guess how it's feeling.
I've also decided thar Gaia will be a nerd, I'm only going to give it Math training. The only exercise it will be doing will be to maintain its weight. We'll see how it'll grow up and how long it'll live with this education.
I think that's all for today, I'll try to post everyday if my schedule allows.

I have two tamagotchi ons coming in soon, is there any tips I should know before I start one? I'm really excited and just want to get an idea of what to expect! Thanks!! :]
    • By Tamacass
At this point for me, it's less of a tradition to keep a log than it is to start one. Half of the posts on Tamatalk are just going to be all my unfinished logs! ;A; But not this time, my dear readers. For I have dug out a Tamagotchi version that is very special to me, and with... a lot of hesitation, actually, have started it up for the first time in what feels like forever!
As the title may give away, I am running (and logging!) my pink iD L! Back when I first joined Tamatalk, these were very popular, and also everywhere unlike the listings you see today. I got both my iD Ls - the aforementioned pink version and my now-rare Princess Spacey ver - back in 2013 for less than $100 each, and I'm glad I did because nowadays, oh boy do you have to sell your own soul to get your hands on one mint in box.
Of course, this comes with its own issues - being that I've had these for seven years now, they've accumulated a ton of scratches, which is where most of my hesitation comes from. For those who aren't in the know, colour Tamagotchis - particularly their screens - are highly prone to scratches if you're not careful, and they can show up real easily on the screen as these annoying rainbow-like textures. My 4U and m!xs have managed to stay safe, luckily, but my iD Ls and my precious little P's have not had the same luck nor fortune. And don't even get me started on their front faceplates - I'd be able to actually afford a mint iD L with the amount of scratches they have.
However, it is all cosmetic in the end. And it's not like I'm ever getting a new iD L unless I risk it for a used version, so I may as well take you all down with me. I've got a Pac-Man Anniversary Mini/Nano in the mail right now as we speak, so with a little patience I'll hopefully be able to log it soon!  Let's begin!
      ~*~*~*~*~*~
      iD L
I put some new batteries in a few days ago, and was welcomed by a little Kingyobotchi! For those not in the know, they are the best-care female toddler character on the iD L. I also discovered that my iD L was on its 3rd generation last time I played it - I had previously raised a Kikitchi and an Agetchi, respectively, both of which are bad-care adult characters.
Determined to take good care of my next Tamagotchi, I proceeded to get the next highest-care teenager, Painaputchi - and didn't look at a growth chart, which is extremely rare for me! I ended up raising an adorable little Chamametchi:

I forgot how photogenic the iD L was. You can't even see any of the scratches on it's screen!
(While writing this, I realized I hadn't given Chamametchi a name yet! I searched up the nearest random name generator, and blessed her with the title of London.)
While Chamametchi isn't the... highest care character out there, she's still very cute (and not a teen, strangely). I decided to go for her Tamatomo Stamps - for those who don't have an iD L, every adult 'gotchi has three special likes that cause them to do a cute little animation + give you what's dubbed a Tamatomo Stamp. You earn the last Tamatomo stamp by having your adult-stage Tamagotchi for 72 hours (or, at least 5 years old, if I recall correctly). You can earn any Tamatomo Stamp in any order, and they're a fun little incentive to spend more time with your tama! Plus, it also gets them stamped in the memory book (which is how I discovered the previous tamas I raised), as well as a bonus cutscene when they get married.
Anyway, I decided to go for London's Tamatomo Stamps straight away! We decided to head to the park, as the market was currently being held:

It's Kuchipatchi's mum! What she's doing here, I have no idea.
Items at the market are usually marked down by 30%, so I wanted to get a good deal. I accidentally ended up leaving by way of the C button with London in tow.

It was raining outside when I took this photo! Who knew Tamagotchi Planet had the same weather cycles... and timezone... wait a second.
We decided to visit again later - for now, it was off to the TamaDepa to get something I thought London would like. The hunt for her Tamatomo stamps was on! I rarely search for these without consulting a guide, so there was an exciting factor to our adventure.
I quickly swept into the accessories aisle, and bought London a pair of cat ears! It was time for the moment of truth...

...I mean, she's still happy at least?
Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. If your Tamagotchi's latest item/accessory/food is Tamatomo-worthy, they'd usually start jumping high in the air with hearts everywhere! But London was quite mellow. She still defied gravity in her celebration, though.
I didn't want to stop there, however - maybe an outfit was what London was looking for! We went back to the market again, as outfits can be super expensive:

It's Makiko's mum! ...I just remembered that Makiko's name doesn't end in 'tchi'.
I was running low on money, so we sold off the Tamamori Tree item I got out of the toy seed I planted in London's backyard yesterday. Don't ask.
Anyway, we had enough money to buy London a lovely red kimono:

I forgot how fun it was to dress up your tamas on the iD L...
And thus the moment of truth began once again!

      Guess what happened next.
...And yet it also was not meant to be! Not only had I spent a ton of gotchi points on two outfits that weren't Tamatomo-worthy, now London looked like a weird anime character. She didn't seem to mind though.

One last photo before the post gets too big...
I decided to stop our Tamatomo hunting there for now. I took London to the different locations in the food menu, but none of the meals and snacks there seemed to activate a Tamatomo Stamp... not even the sweetest treats around! ...That, and it ended with me accidentally discovering Chamametchi's least favorite food. By then my pockets were totally empty. I'm sure I'm missing something here... maybe I should be more open to London's tastes and stop assuming that all she likes is pink stuff just by the colour of her ears? The irony is real.
Next post: more stamp hunting! Meeting a Tama-pet at the park enough times to create a bond with them and take them home... I missed those guys on the 4U and m!x, they were useless but I loved them anyway!
    • By BENJAMIN91609
I heard on other tamagotchi websites that Tama ON's have rare pets on the Wondergarden version. This was a thing back in the Connection v3.5 days and for good reason. But looking at the full evo chart for the ON there was no new/rare character, so is this a hoax?

      Hey guys!
I've been thinking of getting a tama for a long time now, and one time I just felt like getting a knockoff. Just to see how vpets are like.
      But, speculations..
I mean, why not just get a real one? They're much better than the knockoffs anyway!
Can you guys please help me?
      Thanks~
