So, Akihiro Yokoi was inspired by a TV ad that contained "a boy [that] wanted to take his pet turtle with him on a trip, and his mother scolded him and told him to leave it at home." (NYT, Sept. 7, 1997)
However, no matter where I look I cannot find what the TV commercial was about or even if there was such commercial in the first place. And this bothering me more than it should. So I wanted to ask if anyone was ever managed to figure out what commercial he was talking about.
In a similar vein, I keep reading that Akihiro Yokoi was finally credited with the creation of Tamagotchi in a lecture in July 1997, however, I couldn't figure where or what about the lecture was about.
