Hello, I am new and had a curious question. Which Tamas or other vpets do you actively play with? Or do you just collect them and keep them as collectibles and not really play anymore?

I'm ordering some batteries online so I can play with my P1s and a Digimon Ver20th :)

I also play My Tamagotchi Forever on Android app though it's kind of not fun. But I love the Tamagotchi characters.

I actively play with whichever ones I feel like running! :D It'd feel like a waste to have them and never touch them.

Some of my favourites are the Tamagotchi Gen 1 (original or reissue - they each play out slightly differently due to some changes in the reissued version), Pac-Man Tamagotchi, MGA Penguin, and GigaPetsAR Unicorn.

I love the gen 1 and 2 re-release Tamagotchi, so I play with those primarily (alongside an angelgotchi), I'm also running a v4 and a v4.5 too!

Here's my "active squad." I broke down and bought a bunch more Digimon (must... have... exclusive... monsters...  <_<  )

Four Digimon ver20th, and two P1s (left is the OG English one and right is the OG Japanese one, so I can go for both Bill and Oyajitchi :D  )

Yellow Digi was started two days ago and English P1 was yesterday. The rest were started today. That's why everyone is so young.  ^_^

Look at how happy Koromon is about his poo :p

So far keeping track of 6 pets has been a bit difficult, but not impossible. I'm going to try to 'stagger' their needs so they don't all suddenly beep at once tomorrow. I also kind of ignored the black and white Digimons for a while and they beeped at me with 4 poops and sick Koromons. But if I mess up on some I'll get different evolutions so it's okay, right??

I ordered two new Tamas (the new versions of p1 and p2, because the shells are soooooo cute  ) and am thinking about adding them to the roster but I don't know if I can handle 8 pets. I might retire the two OG Tamas when I get the new Tamas since the old buttons are kinda hard to press and it hurts my delicate fingers  . And I can't get the screws off the JP one so the batteries will probably die soon and I won't be able to replace them.  -_-

im getting the p1/p2 repilca. the new tamas seem more girly and gimmicky to me. as for virtual pets in general, i dont really have any games in that genre. (yet.) but it seems fun! i'll post my little guy when i recieve him! probably gonna name him budderoo or something lol

I actually fell off for a long while. Started vlogging to give myself motivation to actually play with them daily. Currently, I'm running 3, the On, the 20th anniversary chibi, and a P2 rerelease.

I recently ran my angelgotchi and V1.

Next, I'll probably run the Pix, if I can find a place to preorder it locally as all the preorders I've found online don't have release day delivery, and a digimon 20th or two. I also have my silver plated entama that needs reassembling and a Tamasuku, deku, and another entama taking it's sweet time in the post. Maybe I'll hold off on those until I'm bored with the pix, and do a big ole weeby japanese tama run. 🤔

I'm scared to run my tamaotch. It seems so complicated and I feel like to really enjoy it I'll need a bit of a better grasp on japanese AND a bit more free-time. 😅

Oh! Japanyouwant sells replacement screws made out of a harder metal(meaning the replacements won't be as easy to strip) Get someone who is skilled and patient with stripped screws to try and extract them.

I've only ever played the tamagotchi on handheld so far, as that was like the first time I actually bought one of the virtual pet handhelds. lol

I've been aware of the other handhelds they released in the past, especially the classic/vintage era, but back then, tamagotchi was just that one series that I knew about, but never actually checked out myself. It wasn't until I became a fan of the anime a few years ago that I would decide to finally get one of the handhelds, which was when Tamagotchi On was coming out here in the west, being the first color screen handheld that would actually GET an english release, and the rest is history there.

The tama that I most actively play with is my Wonder Garden ON!! I get really excited to see what the different adults will look like, haha. My favorite 'connection era' tama is my Keitai Akai (some people don't like the red pixels, but I find them very charming).

i use my Tamagotchi On the most, but i also have a few other tamas. i am new to tamagotchi collecting so i only have 3 so for lol (tama on, original tama gen 2, and tama pix)

Why do you find My Tamagotchi Forever not fun? If you don’t like it don’t torture yourself to play it. I love the games in this app though. I go in and out of playing every few months. It depending on how much time I have. I especially love it when I am travelling. It is also a good version for my 5 year old son to get into tamas and we play together.

Have you looked into the Digimon X versions? When you turn off the light they go into deep freeze pause mode so you can pick up and play at your leisure which I like.

It depends what I am in the mood to play and I choose which tama based on how simple or complex it is. I only play 1 or 2 tamas at a time. More than that becomes a drag for me. I only play 2 at a time if they connect. If not then just 1 at a time. I might play a Nano on the side as well but those are low maintenance. I play gudetama because I *want* him to get cooked haha—TING. Pacman and R2-D2 are more for sound nostalgia and looks. I have some outfits they match with so if I’m wearing that I’ll start one of them.

I like that the Connections have an easy pause feature. When I get new tamas in the mail it can be sooooo tempting to start them all up but I find more than 2 and I quickly burn out. Right now I have a bunch of digimon I want to play but they will have to wait. I only tested them to make sure they work and removed the battery.

I like the color versions, but something about the way the black and white versions have the “always on” screen always feels nice to me. I can look over and always see my little character wiggling on the screen. I was bummed to find the Digimon screens don’t stay on actually.

Right now I’m playing a Pix. I rotate through my collection slowly. Every 2-4 weeks I choose a different tama. Last month I was playing my Ons, and I will probably go back to the Ons after playing the Pix for a bit. Then when I get tired of the color versions I’ll go back to my P1/P2/Angel/Mini/Connections/Digimon. I don’t keep tamas I don’t have interest in playing. I don’t collect in that way. It does take a while to go through my collection but it is fun too.

I did purchase an additional vintage P1 and P2 recently so I can keep my childhood ones safe at home. I play my childhood ones too, but they are sentimental and I wouldn’t want those banging around on a lanyard or getting dropped on pavement, etc…

As for other vpets I have 2 furbys from childhood. I also have a pig and a squirrel Littlest Pet Shop. The LPS don’t die and it’s more of an exploration game. I haven’t played my LPS in a long while and won’t have interest anytime soon to start them. Though I’ve been getting an itch to start my furbys again.

I go in and out of loving My Tamagotchi Forever and getting burned out on it, I must have written this at a time I was getting burned out XD I used to have 4 furbies but decided to stop collecting them. Kinda wish I still had them, though, they're so cute!

Furbys are cute but their gear mechanisms are really loud. Almost louder than the sounds they make. They are fun but tamas are better :)

I definitely agree tamas are better than furbys :) But it's nice to have something soft to pet and it's fun to stick your finger in it's mouth. "Yummmmmm" hehehe.

Currently I'm running both Pac-Man nanos, my P2 rerelease, my Morino (which I'm hoping will finally grow into an adult this time; I've been very careful with it!), and of course my Vital Bracelet.

Actually, not all. Sometimes, loud gears can just be a factory defect, or, a sign of old age. If you want to fix this, if you don’t mind skinning, shucking, (I forgor the difference,) you can insert some oil, (machine oil to be specific) and it will make them run smoother!

Would probably just keep them just for display if my collection gets too big (at the moment I only have 3 virtual pets, which are a Furby Boom, a Gyaoppi clone with a Rakuraku Dinokun shell, and a LCD Dog Qpet. But I bought a Nana Moon Maxi today and I'll buy a P1 and a P2 rereleases when my birthday month comes), but at the moment it's very tiny, so I might be able to run/play with all of them at the moment.
