I had this virtual pet in 1997. I most likely still have it, in some form, but I have absolutely no idea where it is. I've been through my collection numerous times, and I can't seem to locate it.

I have some information on it and a video I discovered on YOUTUBE of someone using one. Unfortunately, it's in a foreign language I cannot understand. Maybe someone here can help.

INFO I HAVE:

  • One variation of this pet is known at Petogotchi. However, I have other virtual pets called this, and they are not the same one.
  • It is related to the Smart Chick/Bobby family of virtual pets.
  • This screenshot is what the pet looks like. I remember this creature very very well.
  • This is a video of someone playing one on YOUTUBE.
  • I have a growth chart for it.

VIDEO 1

VIDEO 2

It does'nt have to be the exact version, but I want the chip inside, the actual sprites, games and everything INSIDE THE SHELL to be the same. The shell itself isn't as important. It also doesen't have to be a "petogotchi" branded version. Any name its given in the version is fine, as long as its the same chip inside.

I realise this is difficult and the lack of replies proves how hard it is. But I have a small bit of info that may help?

Firstly I should have mentioned earlier that I believe this dinopet is a form of Dragotti. Also, I have this picture of a sealed one.

Also... there seems to be a version that runs on a bootleg world a DINKIE DINO, Raku Raku Dinokun? Heres proof.

Hope someone can help me out.

As you mentioned, I only know the rakuraku dinokun (it is not from my generation, I was born in 97 when it was released). On play store you can find one imitation of dinokun : Dinostalgia. And you can still find them. But sorry I don't have much information for petogotchi, unfortunately it is not as famous as Tamagotchi or dinokun, so it may be hard to find one 😕. Hope you found one by the time☺

I know this one! It's an Avon Dino Watch! There's a video of it here. The video also says something about there being dog and cat versions, but I haven't seen them. I hope I helped you find it. :)

hey there! i found a couple of listings on buyee that might have the same chip as the pet youre talking about

https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/c915420396https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/491546194https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/t1014349272
luckily, theyre all pretty inexpensive! let us know if you end up with these and what they end up being!

edit: i found another one that has the same child sprite as the one from your growth chart! https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/x1005648322 not the same packaging, but most oddpets were released so many times under different names and companies that its hard to keep track.

I have discovered some very strange things. Well, I say discovered.... I guess in reality it's rediscovered... because in 1997 I obviously knew this. But I guess over 24 years memory does fade.

Most people probably remember my Search For Bobby thread.... a thread so important to me that it not only had it's own video on my YouTube channel documenting the whole search, but also lead me to hunt down a whole bunch of Bobby's under various different names (mostly Akachans). Why is this important?
Well there are two fundamental reasons I mention this here.

1. My search for Bobby was insane, because i had learned from users on here that Bobby was Akachan. But I already must have known that in 1997... because I had an Akachan. I simply forgot.

2. I originally started i had 2 Bobby's (before i mentioned Akachan because i hadn't realized yet they were the same pet). But i had 2 actual BOBBY'S. As in I knew they were bobby because one of them was active and was the first Bobby (and second actual Vpet I ever owned) and second because the 2nd one had BOBBY written on the shell in the official Bobby logo (as could be seen on a 90s vpet site that had Bobby in there). The problem with this second Bobby was that... well it was broken. Batteries had leaked into it and it simply didnt work anymore. So I just went by my 24 year old failing memory. It was a Bobby. Im sure it was?

Further more just this month the exact shell Bobby appeared on Ebay (I didnt win it sadly) except it had red buttons instead of yellow. It was Bobby on the screen in the listing though. Yep. Broken bobby 2 was just a bobby. I was convinced.

Heres a picture of the one on Ebay... see? A regular original Bobby. (Which I might add has used all the info I shared in the community in its listing).

Now this is where it all gets interesting.

I recently tried to repair Bobby 2 just this week. I used a precision screwdriver flathead to scrape away the battery acid that was cording the chip and sockets and used the same driver to pull up the connectors for a better connection to fresh batteries. And... it worked. The sound was very quiet but it did work. And that's when I discovered this.

Bobby 2... really was a Bobby 2. Ie; Avon Dino Watch (with the exception of being born from a heart instead of an egg). Yeah. This pet here that I've been searching for... was Bobby Generation 2.

Now I did know I had one already I just coukdnt remember where or what one it was. But at the time back in 97, I must have known this. That this dino pet was in fact Bobby Generation 2.

Yes it's been released under many different names and shells but my original one, the one that I knew it from, was Bobby 2.

So this is where we are now. It certainly does not help that Bobby Generation 1's were also using the same shells sometimes though. Still pretty sure Bobby is a reference to Bubbke Bobbke since the Akachan variant of the original was a Bub/Bob icon for attention and featured prominently on the packaging (even if it was in pink).

So far guys I want to thank you all up to this point. For the links to buyee for one (one if those was correct but I missed the auction... I need to check here more). And also for alerting me to Avon Dino Watch which is my Bobby 2 except born from eggs instead if hearts.

If we can keep searching I'll be most grateful. I'll leave you for now with these pictures of my Bobby 2 that i just repaired, despite leading me to believe he was a Bobby 1 all this time.

My Bobby 2 (despite colour of buttons being different... same shell as the Ebay listing of Bobby 1.) Hence the confusion.

I'm glad I helped you! :) I also found some more information about the Bobby 2 as well. I found that it also goes by the name Unisaur as well. I actually managed to find mention of one of an old log on here a while ago. The Unisaur specifically has the Avon Dino programming (and I'm pretty sure they are the same device, looking at this post I found here.) as Spiffy mentions there being an egg in the hatching sequence. If you look further into the log, you can see a pixel rendition of the baby stage of the Unisuar that looks exactly like the Bobby 2 baby stage. (it's pretty distorted looking, but it's still the same nonetheless.)

I'm still curious about the dog version Bobby 2 that is mentioned in the video I linked before and the thread I linked here, and the cat one as well. I did see a "petogotchi cat" on your website, so I'm wondering if that's it? (Since the Bobby 2 also goes by the Petogotchi)

Must admit I have never booted up the Petogotchi kitten. I have a Petogotchi Chicken too but that one features real Tamagotchi creatures inside it. Seems Petogotchi is kinda broad since there are so many variants of the 'Bobby'engine.

I have made a list of all these variant names thank you so much for the help so far. Sadly still no luck buying any new ones yet... so far I only have this one which I bought in 1997. Pleaseif you find any let me know. This topic I'll keep alive until I face a bunch of these. 🙏 so much great help and research thank you.

I bought the Avon Dino Pet since weeks ago, fron US to Spain and it’s like my first tamagotchi
