It’s so crazy seeing how me and a bunch of others on here were all kids finding excitement in something, and now we are what? College graduates/students?? Working full time jobs?? And I can’t believe how cringe some of my posts were back then. Still debating if I’ll delete them all, kinda enjoy laughing at them and having them as a reminder to never be like that again haha. To be fair, I forgot how to be like that.

Warning! I talk a lot.

I was 11-12 when I joined here and now I am 22. For those of you from around that time who may still be here, hello! Honestly, I now walk around pretty numb to life now, not finding lasting excitement in things how I want/used to and I lost the ability to have proper hyperfixations or special interests. It sucks because it was all I ever knew. However, some part of me must still be there though I don’t know how to emphasize her, because I still nerd out and pick up a tamagotchi whenever I see it.

I’ve collected quite a few tamagotchis recently, and even found a model of the first one I ever owned and purchased it! It broke back in the day because I used it so much when I was like 6/7. It was a v1 Connection, pink with hearts. It sparked my love for tamagotchis at that age because the feeding animation was so cute on such a tiny toy, and I wanted to own it again ever since it broke.

I am currently running 3 others now: Fairy Pink On, pink Pix, and Niziu Smart. I’m enjoying what I can from them, and indulged quite a bit. I also recently got a nezukotchi, a ciao berry akai, and green heart mesutchi because I love demonslayer and I rly wanted those last two when I was younger and the shells are so pretty.

Maybe there are other’s around my age in a place like this who can relate to the feeling that they should not have a hobby like this that is seemingly meaningless in near adult life, but all my interests are seemingly childish/meaningless and always have been haha o well. Gadgets and pretty things are cool, I aim to start thinking that it’s enough that they bring joy. I’m thinking maybe I should lurk around places like Tamatalk which inspire my “quirky” interests again rather than become a shell of human being by other people’s and neurotypical standards lol. Hi~ if u read this all

I'm almost twice your age (I was in my teens when the Tamagotchi Gen 1 and Gen 2 first came to the West in 1997), and I've never cared what others might think of my hobbies. If they make you happy and they're not harming you or others, then it's none of their business - the only one who loses out by trying to change for the sake of others is you, and it's just not worth it to make yourself miserable for the sake of the terminally miserable. ;))

Anyway, it's nice to meet you, and welcome back to TamaTalk! Let's get some of that Tamagotchi joy back into your life!

Almost seven years in the air force for me. Can't believe time has flown this fast :oo
The first set of years when I was still in school felt like it took forever!

I agree but I somehow seem to talk myself out of things I like all the time and end up with nothing. A weird habit I don’t know how to break and I do lose out. But yes. I collect tamagotchis even when I think it’s pointless sometimes because I know/ I hope always eventually do end up coming back to them and want to be glad I have the ones I do. Just looking at them even I think they are cool :) Thank you!!

Welcome back! I just came back to the site myself and seeing you post was like a time travel for me haha!
I also loved tamagotchi as a child and I stumbled upon tamatalk when I was getting into the Japanese models as a college student. I'm not a hard core collector but I love running what I have and drawing the little cuties.
Fast forward some more years and now I've hit my 30's and I just came back to tamatalk! I work at a call center where your always busy and can't really leave your computer, but can't be on you phone, but find random small 3 min breaks here and there. Tamagotchi it the perfect source of entertainment and fits right into an adult life :p

your post singlehandedly inspired me to take a look around the site some more myself again, thanks for that!
Haha, good!!!!!!!!! That makes me very happy!!!!! Stay a while why dontcha

Tamagotchis are just the best <3

Ah, I'm older than you but also a member from the olden times! This tamagotchi hobby always felt a little weird to me even when I was a kid because I didn't have any friends who played or collected, but the obsession hasn't let up at all through the years. Nothing that makes you happy is meaningless! :ichigotchi: Even if it doesn't accomplish anything, I've gotta keep taking care of my silly little pixel creatures.

UM!!!! I remember YOU! We had to have interacted at some point because my memory unlocked when I saw your user name, and is your image the same/similar too?

I will never stop taking care of my silly little pixel creatures now. Something so simple and cute can always have a place in my life at any time even if my interest in it wanes because everything else in this world is too complicated. I used to be so enthusiastic about tamagotchis in school that I tricked other kids in my class into thinking they were just as cool as I thought they were haha, I just remembered i bought my friend a music star so I could play with her!! Then my other friend got one as well later that year. Then, I already had one but he got me another for my birthday because i talked about tamagotchis so much so he probably told his mom to get it for me which is really sweet looking back. It’s rare ppl actually take note of or entertain the things i like (rip). I remember being like “oh I have one already” in my head. BUT BOY am i grateful 12 years later today that he got that one. I ended up launching the one I had across my grandmas floor and half the screen is covered in lcd fluid. Catch me asking about how to swap lcd screens in a forum very soon lol, everything else about the tamagotchi works and its one of my fave designs so if i can make it work again ill be partying. Also because the music stars are weirdly the only tamagotchis that managed to remain out of the absurd amount i lost in my childhood. I wish I knew where all those other ones are now, probably more than ten if not long lost in the garbage, sitting around somewhere :/ so sad. Welp. Memory: unlocked!

Oh that's awesome! Maybe we talked when the chat function was a thing? I haven't changed my image in a while but before this I think it was some sort of sign? Not entirely sure!

Either way it's awesome to see you again! Let me know if you ever wanna do a group hatch. :D

Welcome back! ^^ I wasn't around the forum yet when you were still active here (as I didn't really get into the series until much later in like..I wanna say late 2017 or early 2018?) but it's nice to have you back nonetheless! It's also nice to meet you myself as someone who never talk to ya before.

I have a lot of tamagotchi content I've commissioned and help made that I'd love to share to ya. :p

I'll welcome you back with a catchy song!
