tamagotchi pix rechargeable battery problems?

i got the tamagotchi pix a while ago as a gift and when i first tried to put rechargeable batteries into it they did function but! it ran out only in a few minutes! i took them out to recharge them and they were completely emptied according to the charger! i'm not really sure if it was the pix or the chargeable batteries since i dont really know a lot about rechargeable batteries... they worked fine in my on and lasted a normal amount of time! i think it was some sort of battery brand from amazon im not really sure! i dont want to have to buy a new brand of batteries since i dont really use them aside for tamagotchis... i just wanted to ask what was up with the! batteries draining so quickly and if there is anything i could do really..!

Without knowing what type of batteries you're using, it's tricky to advise - "some sort of battery brand from Amazon" could mean just about anything, from a well-known brand to Amazon Basics to dangerous fakes.

For what it's worth, the manual for the Pix suggests a brand that Bandai recommends, and others here are sure to have experiences of their own to share.

Are they NiMH batteries? You shouldn’t use any other type of rechargeable battery.

i checked and they are! amazon basics rechargeable batteries and they do appear to be NiMH... im gonna try and put them in my pix again and see if they last for longer, i'm not really sure what could be up with them! sorry for not specificying what type of battery they are at first i! didnt realize how many batteries are probably sold on amazon

edit: i tried putting them back in again and! they did work normally but in around 6 minutes the batteries ran out again... i put them in the charger and it said they were empty so i really dont know... it said they were full when i got them out of the charger i just dont know whats up with the pix or the batteries...!

A strange thing to be happening. I have not used Amazon brand rechargeable batteries. I have used the regular non-rechargeable Amazon kind but not in Tamagotchis. They were average quality. To be honest, I switched to buying Energizer a while back.

I know you don’t want to buy more batteries but I think it is your only option. I have had good success with both Engergizer Rechargeable and Energizer Max. The Max lasted over two weeks before I took them out for a break. The rechargeables have lasted very long too though I haven’t payed attention to how long. I have not gotten the low battery signal on either before taking batteries out for breaks.

If I were you I’d go to whichever store is near you and buy a pack of regular non-rechargeable batteries. Then you can test if it is your Pix with the problem. If the new ones work then I’d blame the batteries, and you can decide if you wanna invest in a new set of rechargeable. If the Pix is the problem, exchange it.

I will add that rechargeables (regardless of chemistry) do wear out with age and use, which is another factor to take into account.

yeah, if you have been using those batteries in other devices for a while they may be just too old to hold a charge properly.

And Amazon basics aren't really the best quality.
