So like right now my mametchi is 26

The wiki says mametchi's max age is 24 but i've been told by a couple peeps the wiki isn't reliable so... guess that's proof
Thought itd be fun to see how long this mametchi lasts for because omg my initial goal was 20 but he blew it out of the park
i kinda wonder if that's normal or a bug lol. none of my pets ever reached 20 before

I recall hearing that the maximum ages may have been changed on the modern remake devices, so it could be that.

Also, if you've been pausing the device this can cause the age to be displayed incorrectly.

I think that might be what's happening. I always pause the device before i go to sleep (after mametchi's bedtime) so i can sleep for how much i want and just wake him up by unpausing and re-adjusting the time to be correct

He's now 28 and still kicking! So weird to think he could die any second.. yet it feels like he's gonna go on forever lol

Mametchi is 30 now!! i think pausing it when i go to bed really messed it up if the theory is correct lol. I wonder if there's been any datamining or tests/research to know the inner workings or tamagotchis better.
This makes me wanna try a no pause run in the future but ah... i like sleeping all morning too much.... maybe i could delay the time a couple hours just after a reset to fit my sleep schedule better.

Are you putting it in set time and adjusting it forward? Maybe the strat for testing this whole getting to sleep is just resuming things at the same time. Sure, their sleep cycle would end up misaligned for a chunk of it, but it wouldn't result in a manipulation of their age. 🤔

He's dead 😭
He was perfectly healthy and happy, this is totally natural...
I'm up to doing a pauseless mametchi run at some point but not right now, i got some mourning to do lol

What i've been doing this run is, when i go to sleep (which is way past mametchi's sleep schedule) I put the clock on "SET".
When i wake up, i put the clock to what the current time is. So if i wake up at 10am, i input 10am in the clock and resume it.
Next run, i'll reset the pet through inserting the paper tab back in and out. This will make an egg appear but the run won't start until i input the time. Since i'm a late sleeper, instead of putting the actual time, i'll set it a couple hours earlier, something synced to my actual sleep schedule (i have yet to do the math)

Oooh, good idea, and ~when you go to bed it's going to bed!
Another note, however: you can simply use a paperclip and push the reset button on the back. No need to fiddle with the paper tab. 👍

You don’t even need to do that if the Tama is dead. Just press the left and right button at the same time (as if you were setting the time) and you will get a new egg.
