I got owned by Tarakotchi TWICE. I wanted my 4th generation to be Gozarutchi, but I took too good care of him and got Tarkotchi. Then the 5th was SUPPOSED to be Kuchipatchi, but I neglected her too much and got Tarakotchi. >=/

Assuming you took near perfect care otherwise, my guess is that you missed enough trainings to get a Maskutchi. Given Ichigotchi's condition when you came back, though, that might not be the case- IMO, by the time you missed enough trainings for that, it would have died by then. So...maybe...
